IRC log for #arm-netbook on 20120407

00:15.47destinalanyone hear play with lapdocks (intended for webtop modes of android phones to act like netbooks?)   it seems that adapting one to an arm netbook (where the SoC module is plugged in where the android phone would normally go) would be easy enough, just wondering if anyone's done it
00:16.24destinalthey seem to have male micro USB and male micro HDMI connectors
00:28.48penguin42destinal: I wonder whether there is some standardised USB audio protocol they run (or one that Android always supports)

02:33.00hnomnemoc, early_printk is now working in 2.6.36 as well. addruart macro usage differs slightly.

02:36.15hnomnemoc, it's defenitely the timer interrupt that crashes the 3.3 kernel now.
02:46.02hnomy -minimal tress is the bare minimum arch support needed, to isolate & focus the 3.3 effort. When linux-3.3-sun4i-minimal boots (with early_printk keep_bootcon) then we can continue adding back stuff.
04:06.20hno3.0 boots fine.
04:06.35hno3.3 don't.
04:08.28hno3.1 boots.

04:18.19hno3.3 cooking again with a change seen during 3.1 test.
04:23.18hno3.3 still hangs...

05:49.58hno3.4 at least says why it hangs, which was the mmu mapping problem again. 3.3+ is more strict on mmu mappings than earlier.
05:50.36hnofixing that gets into the same jump to a null pointer on timer interrupt.

12:51.06specingHmm, it seems my dead phone provides a fastboot interface
12:51.37mnemocso you are stuck in the bootloader
12:53.19specingDoes this mean I can upload a custom image?
12:54.05mnemocyou can flash partitions
12:54.21mnemocraw
12:54.24specingEven better then
12:54.26specingI guess..
12:55.17mnemocif you have the luxury of a factory update.zip reviving it will be trivial
12:58.40specingIm browsing...
12:59.12specingI also have rsync backups of some partitions here
12:59.35specingI'd first like to know what went wrong
12:59.45specingBut adb's logcat is silent
13:38.40hnomnemoc, I hope to get rid of the the script.bin mapping magics entirely.
13:55.33mnemochno: I hoped the initial mainlining to be less... agressive in the cleaning :) but it will sure be easier to accept that way

15:13.31hnomnemoc, script.bin will still be there I think, unless it can be mapped to devicetree somehow. Intial goal is to get rid of the need to reserve a number of MB and with special MMU mapping for it.
15:13.54hnoit's just a data structure in memory.
15:15.49hnoAnd more to the point, the early mmu map for it is only for GPS and G2D memory reservation purposes where the reservation code reads the size of the memory areas to reserve from script.bin.
15:17.13hnono pin configuration at all there.
