01:11.03ManoftheSeaAnd I want to throw money at open-source hardware
01:15.02A0Shedsever try wrapping bricks in singles?
01:33.01ManoftheSeabut, open-source hardware shouldn't be a brick

13:27.42mnemocafaik steev is working with that SoC
13:45.28ManoftheSeaBut how is FreeScale for FOSS?
13:48.12mnemocimx6 is linaro supported afaik
14:13.11steevmnemoc: indeed we are, freescale is okay, some of their code is horrible, but they are definitely trying harder
14:13.58steevhave 3 of the nitrogen here at the moment, i'd wait for fsl's new board personally
14:20.58mnemocsteev: any idea when genesi will launch their new boards/devices ?
14:21.22steevmnemoc: no eta :/
14:21.43mnemocIt's been like a year since the cuties used to present hardfloat where shown..
14:22.09mnemocwere*
14:22.10steevcuties?
14:22.20mnemocsome very small boards
14:23.01steevmmm, we've continued working on hardfloat (markos is a genesi employee who has been working with linaro)
14:23.42mnemocit was shown on a tradeshow but I can't find the link :-/

14:46.48steevwe may have something for FTF this year, depending on how this other job is going, all focus is on it at the moment

14:47.54traeaktom was nice enough to send me the remote and the hard drive case as well
14:50.33A0ShedsI'll make an imx6 eoma68 card, I'm just stuck waiting until the official release in June
14:51.38A0Shedsif they gave me the specs two months ago it would be done by now
15:24.36mnemocA0Sheds: and the a10 cards? :)
15:28.31A0Shedswhat about them?
15:28.43A0Shedscar wash getting nervous?
15:29.11ManoftheSeacar wash?
15:29.31A0Shedshe said he was going to use about 100 of them for car washes
15:29.53ManoftheSeaoh, cool.
15:30.19ManoftheSeaMaybe you can just 3d-print me a clean car?

15:33.38mnemocA0Sheds: no, just curious.
15:34.33mnemocA0Sheds: because you said you would have imx6 cards already if they would have given you the specs
15:34.47A0Shedsjust sourced the last connectors uHDMI, waiting for them to arrive
15:35.07ManoftheSeaso, is there a schedule or roadmap?
15:35.15mnemocneat

15:43.57traeakmele-ubuntu-lucid.img
15:44.00traeakso this is the latest image?
15:44.30traeaki really really dislike debian, i really hate it for development use, it's okay for an appliance though
15:45.30ManoftheSeahuh?  traeak why?
15:47.18traeakManoftheSea: i really don't like their administration, no default root, the packages typically are ancient, it's way too easy to break, etc
15:47.56ManoftheSeaAnd that's why you want an ubuntu image for the mele?
15:48.46ManoftheSeaI'll give you the ancient packages in stable.  but then... you're asking for an LTS image.
15:51.58traeaki prefer arch nowadays
15:53.24traeakManoftheSea: the ubuntu imgae is all that's there :-p
16:02.50ManoftheSeawell, yeah... but Ubuntu = blah.
16:02.54ManoftheSeaNot a fan of Unity
16:03.06ManoftheSealikes Wheezy
16:03.46traeaki have a recording appliance that runs xubuntu
16:04.19traeakxubuntu used to shut down fast (10.04) then i updated it...now it takes forever to shut the machien down, reminds me of friggin windows

16:04.36traeaki much prefer the control i hvae with arch big time
16:04.52traeakgentoo killt itself with some bad engineering decisions
16:14.13ManoftheSeacontrol?  I mean, as long as nothing else is going on, what control do you have with arch?  Filesystems?  services?
16:29.54traeakhow many different distros do yo have experience with?
16:33.49ManoftheSeaLucid, Debian, a little CentOS (Enough to relize it's different)
16:34.30ManoftheSeaAnd it was CentOS that was irritating me about not having packages.
16:34.45ManoftheSeaoh, LFS.
16:34.46traeakyeah centos fail
16:41.19traeakran slack originally with the stack of floppies, redhat/mandrake for a bit, those would junk up /usr/local/ due to missing packages. customer runs opensuse but i haven't screwed with that.  ran gentoo for a bit, tried debian, found the configuration and defaults very frustrating, switching branches broke systems, then settled on arch.  I find arch to be extremely straightforward and simple for configuration and management
17:29.10ManoftheSeawell, that's cool then.  I haven't tried Arch yet.
17:29.24ManoftheSeaI'm eyeing Trisquel for a spare netbook...
17:37.39traeakthere's a cheap a10 based netbook :-p
17:38.25ManoftheSeais it GPL-respecting?
17:43.48traeakit's running android 4.0 so it woudl require the same hacking the mele does
17:44.04traeakthankfully it has 1GB ram instead 512 the mele has
17:53.33ManoftheSeableh, android netbooks.
17:53.56ManoftheSeaMy handheld computer runs maemo.

17:54.51ManoftheSeaBut, Windows Phone 7!
