00:15.39mister_zombieHi, I have a slight problem regarding bluetooth, namely, my controller can't be found.
00:16.13mister_zombie(Even though the module is loaded and rfkill lists an acer-bluetooth module, neither blueman nor bluetoothctl are able to find it.)
00:17.19mister_zombieReason this is a problem: As a parent, I'm no longer allowed to Netflix-and-chill, and now have to resort to Netflix-and-chores. Easier with bluetooth-enabled headphones.

00:26.15mister_zombieSo yeah I'm kinda stumped, any hint would be extremely appreciated
00:27.20mister_zombieMany thanks in advance. Sorry for the spam.

16:35.54trevoriusActually it's "Failed to determine the codename for the release."
16:53.45flrntrevorius: what's giving you this error message?
16:55.12flrndepending on what it's looking for, it might be sufficient to create a /etc/debian_version or edit /etc/devuan_version resp. /etc/os-release

17:17.21trevoriusit was already on a bug report but I can't find the report anymore. One of the comments said it would be fixed for the 1.0beta2 release. The installer is what gives the error message, and it happens when it tries to access the internet.
17:18.36trevoriusThe only internet access I currently have is usb tethering via a cell phone, and the installer doesn't recognize and utilize that connection. Somebody, somewhere I can't find anymore, said it was or would be fixed in the next release, so I was just seeing when that was gonna be
17:24.03flrntrevorius: oh, I see. i have no clue of devuan's timetable.
17:27.03flrnthere's no other computer around to use as wifi access point or ethernet bridge?
17:37.08trevoriusno, not at the time. I'm considering just taking it somewhere with ethernet and doing the installation there, but as it's a desktop, that's a pretty damn big hassle. It's hard to find three or four hours to do all that.

17:56.50DeeEffaha! `sudo startx` works great now
17:56.56DeeEffnot sure why it won't run as user though
17:58.24telst4rThat's odd. I'd guess some user/group permission issues

18:00.32telst4rI guess you're supposed to install a graphical login manager and not start the X as normal user
18:00.44DeeEffyes, any suggestions for which graphical login manager?
18:00.46telst4r(the login manager would start X)
18:01.11DeeEffso far I wanted to use LDM or SLIM, but can't get either working (SLIM won't install due to some libpng12-0 error or something)

18:04.07trevoriusif you can get it to work, that is
18:05.42DeeEffwell I'm trying lightDM
18:05.53DeeEffI guess it install consolekit / policykit but they're necessary evils
18:10.59fsmithredusing lightdm here with no problems
18:11.35fsmithredslim is the default dm if you install a desktop

18:16.56DeeEfffsmithred: I can't seem to install slim, because it complains about a broken libpng12 or something
18:18.02telst4rDoes LightDM actually 'need' consolekit/policykit or is it just Lennartism?
18:18.46DeeEfftelst4r: I have no idea, it installs them as dependencies
18:18.50DeeEffprobably becasue it uses logind
18:20.06telst4rah.
18:22.24fsmithredno systemd components are needed for lightdm, and I think the consolekit dep is older than systemd
18:23.18fsmithredthe kit stuff is there so user can shutdown/reboot

18:25.34telst4rso no, not really a dependency, but as a desktop user it's nice to be able to shutdown/reboot as a user. hence policykit is okay.
18:30.19fsmithredpolicykit-1 has been devuanized, so it doesn't need the big D.
18:31.45telst4rYep
18:32.34DeeEffhrm, I seem to be having troubles with a lot of things here.
18:32.47DeeEffI may reinstall with ascii instead of ceres and see if I can install a DM to start with
