16:55.24 | morsing | So, question for all the Linux lovers... How come you can no longer browse sftp and samba shares? And before you say "You can", then, no you can't |
16:56.56 | wethrin | smbclient doesn't exist any more? |
17:02.31 | ChoHag | Where did fuse go? |
17:02.47 | wethrin | Someone lit it? |
17:06.41 | ChoHag | Yes indeed. |
17:31.42 | morsing | I knew nothing but crap comments would come of this. Gllug is supposed to be here to support people using Linux |
17:32.30 | ChoHag | Really> |
17:32.36 | ChoHag | I thought it was a group for lusers. |
17:33.07 | ChoHag | I don't remember signing up to help anyone. |

20:01.09 | yaMatt | morsing, I agree GLLUG is there to assist where possible, but it goes both ways, you can't throw out trolling questions then act all defensive when you don't get a satisfactory response |
20:09.51 | yaMatt | I would appreciate it if you could expand on your sweeping generalisation |
20:11.52 | yaMatt | so as to see what can be done to fix this problem, because for me, right now samba seems to be working great |
20:13.39 | yaMatt | though I suspect your question has achived the desired effect and we'll hear no more of this |
20:22.28 | morsing | LOL |
20:24.36 | morsing | yaMatt: I've never had a problem prefixing file locations sftp:// until a few years ago. Apparently xfce's file browser is called Thunar or something and it's *supposed* to be able to browse both sftp and smb in later versions but it's clearly broken. and yes, I've installed the necessary filesets |
20:37.18 | ChoHag | yaMatt: Some of you guys have a hell of a lot more patience than I do... |
20:37.58 | ChoHag | Ah so Linux isn't [more] broken, thunar is. |
20:43.20 | morsing | Same thing :-) |
20:43.30 | morsing | Samba != Linux either |
23:22.59 | yaMatt | unfortunately it's been many years since I've used Thunar |
23:23.10 | yaMatt | sounds like it isn't registering the schemes correctly |
23:23.14 | yaMatt | which distro is it? |
23:26.39 | yaMatt | I know you said you installed everything, but just to make sure https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Thunar#Using_Thunar_to_browse_remote_locations |
23:27.18 | yaMatt | probably worth comparing version numbers there too |
