00:26.37makfinskyshalkie: That's an interesting work around. I tried to solve it first by removing the ipv6 entry from /etc/hosts on all the builders. I'll add the ::1 entry back in to the file according to the bz.
00:28.19goozbachmake sure it's documented in the issues for the package
00:28.22goozbach:)
00:39.32makfinskyDone.
00:49.55makfinskyHoly righteousness... kdelibs built!
00:50.07makfinskyThat much closer to getting lvm2 built...
00:50.55makfinskyshalkie: I am trying the nss build with the updated /etc/hosts on the builders now.
00:51.04goozbachwait!? lvm depends on kdelibs?
00:51.08goozbachweird
00:51.09makfinskyThis might also solve an mysql build issue I am having.
00:51.20makfinskygoozbach: lvm2 depends on publican... wtf?
00:51.42goozbachthe fa?
00:52.02makfinskyWell, sort of. lvm2 deps on cluster, which deps pacemaker, which deps on publican and kdelibs.
00:52.13makfinskyYeah, weird stuff going on there.
00:52.21goozbachwerid
00:52.32goozbachinteresting discussion in #ascendos right now
00:52.34makfinskyThe reason is likely the gui tools that are in the lvm2 pkg...
00:52.41makfinskyOoh, joining.
00:52.42goozbachwe're not on their radar yet
00:52.43goozbachaparently
00:53.11makfinskyWell, we haven't really advertised anything yet.
00:54.51goozbachtrue
01:16.21goozbachascend just dropped their first iso
01:30.08makfinskyThey had been threatening to do that for a while now, hadn't they?
01:30.15makfinskyI'm not concerned.
01:30.37makfinskyThis work that we've been doing is already valuable, to me at least.
01:31.21makfinskyMore and more customers are wanting to build their own rpms, and even customize their el distro for their purposes.
01:35.54goozbachmaybe it's a good thing that we're not well known yet. there's some backlash going on
01:35.57goozbach:)

01:55.42smoogeany sign of herlo?
01:56.09goozbachhe's been under the weather
01:56.10goozbachand traveling
01:56.31goozbachso he may be holed up in a hotel room asleep
02:06.27smoogeah ok
02:06.29makfinskyHmm... nss tests are still failing...
02:21.58makfinskyWell, ain't this a bit of a pickle...
03:41.38makfinskyHmm, that work around did not seem to work. It appears that the nss server process binds to 127.0.0.1 no matter what's in /etc/hosts and the client tries to connect to ::1 for some reason.
03:41.53makfinskyAh! I have an idea!
03:50.22herlowhy are people looking for me?
03:50.44herloahh, smooge wants salt rpms
03:50.50makfinskyBecause you don't want to be found.
03:50.57herlohehe
03:51.01herlobeen out with family all day
03:51.03smoogeherlo, I have been trying to get salt to work
03:51.14smoogethe 0.9.1 doesn't work too well on EL6
03:51.24smooges/too well/at all/
03:54.12smoogeherlo, I had an email conversation with the coder and he said you were working on RPMS so I figured I would ask. however family comes first
03:54.16herlosmooge: I have yet to build it
03:54.27herloyeah, was starting to work on it
03:55.34herlosmooge: Thatch is awesome. I hope you and Tom got off to a good start. I hope to have salt rpms this weekend actually
03:56.16herlosmooge: if you wanna try making a better rpm, let me know, but I have yet to put in the rpm request
03:56.36smoogeyeah.. I need to figure out the issues with 0.9.1. He brought in Cython which seems to want a compiler on my system and such
03:56.58herloindeed
03:57.04herloit would require such a thing
03:57.12smoogewhich is not exactly what I want on my servers :).
03:57.24herlotrue, that's a fair thing to not want
03:58.07smoogeso I am going to back down to 0.8.9 and put in some patches for rpm commands not working and such
03:58.39herlosmooge: if you want to work on it together, I'm going to OLF tomorrow and will be working on it then
03:58.50herloprobably in the afternoon/evening time
03:59.05herlosmooge: one fo the things I'd like to see though with salt, is an api
03:59.06smoogehopefully will be availabe then
03:59.38herlok, I'll ping you when I get started
04:12.02herlomakfinsky: what is your idea?
04:13.39makfinskyWell, for some reason, when building nss, during the tests, it starts a server, which binds to ipv4 localhost, the client then attempts connection to ipv6 localhost, which gets refused.
04:14.18makfinskyThe workaround in the bz is to add a line that defines both ipv4 and ipv6 localhost.localdomain. I did that, with ipv4 localhost defined first. That failed.
04:14.29makfinskySo I took out ipv6 localhost line altogether, that also failed.
04:14.41makfinskySo now I am trying with ipv6 localhost defined first.
04:15.03makfinskyNot sure why the server binds to ipv4 only and the client connects to ipv6 only.
04:16.50makfinskyOk, I need to run out for a bit, back later. Hopefully, build works.
04:29.09shalkieHm, I just missed him.
04:34.42shalkieWell that is about to fail.
04:34.59shalkie:-(
04:35.15shalkieStupid nss.
04:39.01goozbachI did IT!!!
04:39.11goozbachI've finished the blog post!
04:39.16goozbachand prior to friday!
04:39.23goozbachI avoided the noogie!
04:39.46shalkieSwwweeetttt!
04:40.06goozbachI'm not going to post it to my blog until lunch time monday I think (better traffic then, and a chance to write the second blog post)
04:40.20goozbachbut here it is for your perusal:

04:41.12goozbachplease give me some feedback
04:43.11shalkieMy immediate perusal looks good, but I am just skimming this late at night. :-)
04:44.22goozbachIt is pretty close to the blogpost in brainstorm of the main repo
04:44.26goozbachjust edited
04:44.39goozbachI also outlined today the "introducing goose" blogpost
04:44.46goozbachand added about three pages worht of topics
04:44.48goozbach:)
04:44.50shalkieNice. :-)
04:45.56shalkieI am curious, what was the backlash you mentioned earlier?
04:48.32goozbachjust some "why you trying to one up centos?!"
04:48.47goozbach"seriously why another el clone?!"
04:49.10shalkieOh. That is sucky.
04:50.34goozbachso if we come at it as "we want to build a community" (the reason this blog post comes before the introduction of the project)
04:50.43goozbachwe can stave off these types of comments
04:50.56shalkieYeah.
04:51.10goozbachjust point a the "we're using gooselinux as a product to use for our community building experiment"
04:51.15goozbachdocument

13:48.20shalkieHmmm... Evil steve is one of the #Centos people. I wonder how active he is with ascend.
13:53.12goozbachlet's never actively recruit from a 'competing' project
13:53.21goozbachif they wanna come join us let em
13:53.34goozbachthat'll help with the percieved one-upmanship
13:58.08shalkieOh, sorry. I wasn't thinking about recruitment. Just speaking outloud. :-) But I agree. People will come to us if they have interest.
