03:43.30Landonwhat's double buffering?
03:44.00Fremwhen you render a page and send it to the screen, that render is called the buffer
03:44.38Fremstuff gets sent to the screen a lot faster than we can render it, so there can be flicker if the buffer needs to be sent to the screen while we're rendering it.
03:45.33Fremthe solution is to have two buffers. one is the in-progress render. when the render is complete, we copy it over to a second buffer, which is what gets sent to the screen.

03:45.55r0bbylemme know when :)

04:25.11ecinI am proud of being able to do a single handstand pushup though.
04:25.12r0bbyI have no idea how many i can do
04:25.27ecinThere's one easy way to find out RIGHT NOW.
04:25.27r0bbyecin: come back when you can do 10
04:25.42r0bbythat requires i get up
04:25.44ecinr0bby: don't think you'll be around by then. :P
04:25.57r0bbyWith the way I live, likely not :)
04:26.19Fremman, i may be wimpy and out of shape now... but i'll be a burly ninja master as an old man.
04:26.28r0bby[mharrison]: you were w/ the same org as Landon?
04:26.38r0bbyI just recognized the name
04:31.03lut4rpHm, we should have a commit tracker as well and stats at the end of gsoc.
04:31.30lut4rpbut with so many vcs around, that will be one tough job
04:31.57FremCommit #300: Fixing whitespace to get another commit in for #gsoc commit contest
04:32.15ecinThat's a good point. Not everyone commits early and often.
04:32.18r0bbyI'm a recovering machine gun committer
04:32.26r0bbyI tend to find things AFTER i commit :(
04:32.31FremThere's nothing wrong with that.
04:32.42FremWant to know how many times I committed last summer of code?
04:32.45FremSIX
04:33.02r0bbyhow in god's name did you communicate w/ your mentor?!!
04:33.03lut4rpFrem, ORLY?
04:33.07FremIt was *bad*. I lost entire days tracking down things that mysteriously broke, not having anything to go back on.
04:33.09r0bbychrist :)
04:33.25r0bbyFrem: my IDE has a local history :)
04:33.36FremI communicated with him regularly, actually. that's probably the only reason he let me get away with it.
04:34.02r0bbyhow did he see your code?
04:34.19r0bbyI commited some pretty craptastic code
04:34.26lut4rplulz
04:34.26FremI'd tell him what was going on, and he'd tell me what functions I should poke at.
04:34.48r0bbyhttp://dev.openmrs.org/browser/openmrs-modules/facilitydata/src/org/openmrs/module/facilitydata/util/FacilityDataUtil.java
04:34.56FremI mean, the project get finished, so it wasn't that bad, but...
04:34.57r0bbythat's the worst class I ever wrote
04:35.37*** join/#gsoc diegoe (n=diego@201.230.200.253)
04:35.45r0bbythe bottom of it, is me adding conveniences to allow me to easily mock out things in memory :)
04:36.17r0bbyand then a few things spawned :)
04:36.34FremAre these questions hardcoded? What does this do?
04:36.55r0bbyFrem: those questions are hard-coded for the mean time
04:37.10r0bbyThe question text is localized in that each locale gets a different message

04:39.26x58(I don't speak French, speak english please!)
04:39.33r0bbythis is a legacy system that is used in haiti, which i learned the primary language is french :X
04:39.53r0bbyx58: ahh that's the beauty of a coded question: you know t,f,na
04:40.07r0bbyI don't have to care what the language i can easily map what it means.
04:40.20x58r0bby: I have not been following the conversation, just saw the french and got an word in edge wise.
04:40.23ecinHmm, I get a password request when trying to clone the git repo for the exercise app.
04:40.26x58I will go back to lurking now :)

04:41.40Fremi have two screens
04:42.07Fremi can see the ide on one screen, irc on one screen, and THE INTERNET in a web browser next to irc.
