03:52.50summatusmentisI'm doing mine this weekend
03:53.09ojwband for next year
03:53.25Landonis going to hopefully get an internship this upcoming year
03:53.54Landonsoc is awesome and all, but coding in my house is boring :P
03:54.22summatusmentisand the comparable money isn't there
03:54.31summatusmentiswhich is an unfortunate reality
03:55.21Landonthe payment timing isn't that great either on a students budget

04:02.15LandonDark_Shikari: in my house yes :P
04:02.26LandonI didn't have a desk all summer, my monitor was on a night stand
04:02.26Dark_Shikari"in this house, all coding must be boring!"
04:02.53summatusmentisI had a crappy chair this summer
04:03.07LandonI had a camping chair this summer iirc :P
04:03.33Dark_Shikariwonders if he should mention the chair he sat in
04:03.47Landon(oh and there's also the fact that companies can afford much cooler stuff for me to play with than I can myself >.>)

04:04.34LawnGnomeI've found the trick to working remotely is (a) having a good "home office" where you switch on -- working from your couch/bed is useless, because if you're like me, you end up spending all day browsing por... YouTube, and (b) getting to know the people at a good coffee shop nearby so you can go sit there for a few hours and they'll occasionally ferry you coffee and give you someone to chat to when you're not quite in the zone. :)
04:04.57Dark_ShikariBlockSite is good and you should use it
04:05.20Landonwho are you kidding, unless my ISP does it for me, I'll get past any filter if I'm determined enough :P
04:05.36Dark_Shikariit's shockingly effective
04:05.51LandonI tried slapping a few timewasters in my hosts file this summer
04:05.52Dark_ShikariI put reddit on my blocksite because it was phenomenally shitty
04:05.57Dark_Shikariand I haven't accessed it in 2-3 months
04:06.11Landonthe effect? ^r-h brings up sudo vim /etc/hosts
04:06.16Landon:P
04:06.35LawnGnomeDark_Shikari: I don't see much point to that sort of thing, since I'll just turn it off if I want to anyway. It's more about mental discipline -- at least for me. YMMV, naturally.
04:06.51Dark_ShikariLawnGnome: I thought the same exact thing until I tried it
04:07.02Landontoo bad I don't use firefox
04:07.02Dark_Shikariwe spend half the day reflexivly opening sites
04:07.02Landon:p
04:07.07Dark_Shikariblocking them creates a barrier to access

04:14.10ojwbDark_Shikari: was it a throne made from human skulls?
04:14.35LandonI bet it was an aeron chair made from human skulls
04:15.11LawnGnomeLandon: Human skulls with osteoporosis to simulate the usual Aeron fabric's meshy air flow goodness. ;)
04:15.15summatusmentisI really need to stop looking at the Google Jobs website
