14:42.27*** topic/#gsoc is Google Summer of Code 2018 | Start of coding May 14th | https://g.co/gsoc
14:54.30shreyansh_kr0bby: I am one of them and I think what is obvious to many may not be to other new users. I frequently find myself asking questions on #freenode. I mean... not everybody has the same set of knowledge and facts.
14:57.33shreyansh_kolly: I think IRC looks like a huge wall of text when one tries it for the first time. Happened to me. Probably that's why the errors/notif get lost in the ether.

15:04.16shreyansh_kIn fact, it took me some time to understand how signups work in freenode. I was trying to fit Internet's login process onto IRC (that is: fill form on website, verify, login). Why I was doing it? Because that's the only process I knew and hence, I was trying to draw parallels with what I already know to understand what I didn't know.

22:02.01r0bbyshreyansh_k: I understand this -- but freenode also documents this -- if you Googled "freenode nickname registration" -- it'd have the document right there :)
22:02.54r0bbyThat's one of the other things I see from a lot of users here in the channel, they don't do even the most basic of research. Those are the ones that I feel won't succeed.
22:03.26r0bbyThe website for Google Summer of Code has a TON of resources...PLUS orgs have written their own docs -- and spent hours doing so
