09:43.24danieelhello, can please somebody help me? I have a hp3630 and the bootloader says Can't read control file when I try to flash the device. Also it won't boot from the jffs on the CF, only internal flash. I'm using a 256MB cf card with fat32 (vfat) and 3 files on it. 0.8.4. The device has no serial port and the usb one is broken (win: unrecognized usb dev, lin: cant read descriptor..)

10:06.59bluelightningdanieel: which kind of sleeve is it?
10:07.58danieelCF sleeve
10:08.39danieel(PE2036B for h3600 series)
10:09.29danieelwhen I try the same without the cf card, it complains about no pcmcia card
10:12.25bluelightninghmm... I would suggest deleting the contents of the card, then writing reflash.ctl first followed by the other files
10:13.08danieeli did that, with a new format
10:13.22danieelshould i try to format it under linux?
10:13.41bluelightningI doubt it would make much difference... I'm using factory formatted cards here and they work
10:14.06bluelightningthe other possibility is the battery in the cf sleeve is too low... has it been on AC for a while?
10:14.38danieelthe sleeve has no battery, im running from ac only
10:14.57bluelightningall of the sleeves have an internal battery
10:15.04danieelin wince the cf worked (i used it to backup the wince gz)
10:15.16bluelightninghmm... ok I guess it's not that
10:16.04danieeldoes this device have a serial port on its expansion port? i could make a serial cable
10:17.42danieeli found it.. it has. I'll try that (http://www.kh-gps.de/ipaq.htm)

11:46.48bluelightningdanieel: I'm still here, but I'm not sure if I can help
11:46.53danieelwow, i got it
11:47.04danieelmade a fat16 and renamed all the files to 8.3 format
11:48.18danieelthen the bootloader's flash utility detected the image on the cf
11:50.00bluelightninghmm... the bootloader is rather fussy about what you put on the card it seems

14:22.48psokolovskyHi!
14:22.51psokolovskybd2: ping
14:24.32psokolovskyGodEater: h4000 works perfect regarding suspend/resume
14:24.43GodEaterI must have a broken battery then
14:25.02GodEaterwas fully charged on Friday, shut down at the office, and wouldn't power on this morning.
14:25.31psokolovskyheh, that's completely another thing
14:25.41GodEaterreally ?
14:26.22*** join/#handhelds aanishn (n=aanishn@59.160.172.205)
14:28.58GodEaterpsokolovsky: do you mean "yes your battery is broken" or "no, there's something else wrong" ?
14:29.48*** part/#handhelds aanishn (n=aanishn@59.160.172.205)
14:30.14psokolovskyGodEater:  in my tests, h4000 under linux dropped ~15% charge while suspended, which is pretty much like under wince. either way "something else wrong".
14:30.30GodEaterthanks - I shall purchase a replacement battery then
14:30.55GodEatermany thanks for all your work on it by the way - I've been signed up to the mailing list for a couple of years now :)
14:32.18psokolovskyGodEater: nice. and keep in mind that we need more developers and/or experienced testers ;-)
14:33.02GodEaterwell I'm still fighting to get a working toolchain going. Still a bit mystified as to why a recent gcc won't create a working kernel.
14:33.22GodEaterI wanted to build a more up to date kernel than the one you posted last Sept. :)
14:33.31GodEateror whenever it was
14:34.55*** join/#handhelds thaytan (i=jan@nat/fluendo/x-5070b345235f636f)
14:35.29psokolovskyGodEater: well, that kernel was for Familiar 0.8.4. and remember there's an OE to do all that grunt work for you.
14:35.43GodEaterOE ?
14:36.16psokolovskyOpenEmbedded
14:36.21GodEaterand are you saying if I build a more up to date kernel then my Familiar install will not work ?
14:36.40GodEaterpsokolovsky: ah - is that the bitbake thing mzb recommended for me ?
14:38.59psokolovskyGodEater: yep. not sure about Familiar with newer kernels.
14:39.13GodEaterpsokolovsky: well I shall have to find out then shall I not ? ;)

15:37.02psokolovskybd2: sent email to k-d, would appreciate your response
15:37.22bd2ok, will look
15:42.04pH5psokolovsky: aren't resources meant to be the resources that a device consumes/uses, not those that it provides? about linux/mfd, I'd say just try it, this is the easiest to change later.
15:43.58pH5psokolovsky: and are there any news on gpiodev vs david brownell?
15:45.19psokolovskypH5: well, as you can see, there's very vague border between "uses" and "provides". to provide, it also uses, right?

15:53.48pH5psokolovsky: btw, what do you think about converting hx4700 to htc-egpio?
15:53.48pH5it has just one output register, but then hx4700_core would only contain the suspend/resume code
15:54.04pH5(which should be unified with other ports to some kind of wince_suspendresume driver some time)
15:54.41psokolovskypH5: if you think that htc-egpio is generic enough to handle any port extender, why not? ;-)
15:55.27pH5well, hx4700 is htc roadster after all :)
15:55.36psokolovskypH5: as for gpiodev vs gpiolib issues, nope, there're no news. My latest idea was to just accept that gpiolib will be eventually in mainline, hack own quick impl., and use it...
15:55.42pH5it's just a simple 16bit write only register for output gpios
15:55.46psokolovskyBut worth asking Brownell of course...
15:56.52pH5ok
15:58.00psokolovskypH5: yeah, I remember that, just not sure if htc-egpio is too heavyweight for it?
15:58.17psokolovskyif you think it's worth it, let's do that.
16:00.52cm34how can I make my port use TSC2046 touchscreen ? I've looked at existing implementations of htcuniversal and hx4700, but they seems different
16:00.58cm34where should I start ?
16:01.58psokolovskycm34: start with hx4700. htcuniversal is still unconverted.
