IRC log for #harmattan on 20120713

00:00.17DocScrutinizer05I hope I don't need the new job tomorrow, when I sit longer at this PC in the night
00:00.38jonniproductive day today, I've pimped my N950 to be dualbooting PR1.3 + Nemo and replaced warning screen with custom bootlogo :)
00:01.31alteregoHmm, only 1619 lines of code in two days
00:01.35DocScrutinizer05jonni: I'd hopend you'd write your own hacked NOLO
00:03.02jonniDocScrutinizer05: heh, dont have to hack nolo, I just figured out how to cope with CAL, now it doesnt bother me on openmode and lockcode works too :)
00:03.44DocScrutinizer05you haxored libcal.so?
00:05.18DocScrutinizer05though I thought the CAL accesses are statically linked into dsme and whatnot
00:05.56jonniheh, you have few options, other is just copy the cal blockdevice to file, and make kernel to show your custom readwrite blockdevice as /dev/mtd1, and other way is even easier :)
00:07.37DocScrutinizer05hmm replace mtd1. yep, sounds straight approach
00:11.07MohammadAGPentile isn't that bad
00:11.25GeneralAntillesMohammadAG, go die in a pit.
00:11.26DocScrutinizer05heh, you know how I found #jollamobile? I thought it might be a nice idea to register #jolla, but surprise surprise it already existed, with a link to #jollamobile in topic
00:11.40GeneralAntillesStskeeps is too quick for us humans.
00:12.08MohammadAGGeneralAntilles: Hehe

00:12.39MohammadAGqmafw is badly docuemented
00:12.49GeneralAntillesMohammadAG, did you get a Metawatch yet?
00:12.55alteregoI suppose I should start sticking GPL licenses on my dialer (ng) code ..
00:13.24MohammadAGGeneralAntilles: No, but I was looking at the new revision today :p
00:13.35GeneralAntillesMohammadAG, it'll change your life.
00:13.46MohammadAGThen I noticed it doesn't work with the iPhone 4, only te 4S, so I was like meh :p
00:14.07GeneralAntillesYeah, but Jolla.
00:14.20AranelN9MohammadAG: :) I just thought that there may be a forced-landscape option to force music player to work that way.

00:41.23alteregowoo

01:23.14itsnotabigtruckyeah, it's not very new so i'm sure lots of people have
01:23.27itsnotabigtrucki got it on sale for $10 or something a ways back and it was totally worth it
01:23.56itsnotabigtruck$2.50...you can easily spend more than that on an energy drink
01:25.43CreamyG31337i dunno opening that damn steam store probably just cost me $50 cuz theres lots of stuff i want now :(
01:25.50CreamyG31337THANKS :P
01:26.13CreamyG31337dunno why i feel i need to buy stuff i will never have time to play
01:26.45itsnotabigtruckhaha
01:27.22itsnotabigtrucki bought a bunch of steam games in the past, but then you get to a point where you already have most of the stuff that's cheap that you want
01:28.14itsnotabigtruckout of today's steam sale items, dx:hr, spacechem, and portal 2 seem like the only must-haves
01:28.23itsnotabigtruckand dx:hr is off-sale already

01:36.57itsnotabigtrucki always set it to download and prompt, which only seems to result in it nagging me over and over about rebooting

14:42.40mhoyeHello, folks. Question about Harmattan.
14:43.12mhoyeI found a blog post that showed Hildon running on a Thinkpad, dated 2007.
14:43.18mhoyeWhen dinosaurs roamed the earth.
14:43.36mhoyeIs it possible to run hildon/harmattan on x86 today?
14:43.43mhoyeWell, "possible".
14:44.22mhoyeIs it relatively straightforward?

19:35.44jonnihopefully you have enabled track&protect to your other one :)
19:35.52teleshoesyea, s'good idea
19:36.01teleshoes...i think ill do that now
19:36.37panot, but now i will :)
19:37.48jonniofcourse if you have the imei, you can report that one, and operators will add that one to blocklist so phone stops working in western countries where operators share blocklists.
19:38.03jonnimakes selling the device a bit harder :)
19:38.39payes i will do that, but apparently the police said they can sort of track the phone, given the imei
19:39.30paso maybe i'll give them some days and see if they can do something
19:39.31jonniyep if phone is online, they can triangle it down from celltowers, but resolution is about 100-1000meters.
19:39.46pacan they find out what sim is in there?

19:40.51teleshoesits plausible that they could ring it
19:40.52jonnibut yes they can call
19:40.59pacool :)
19:41.26pain norway you need an ID to get prepaids anyway
19:41.26jonnibut usually cops have real crimes to solve, so they only hunt phones if they are really bored :)
19:41.42payea, i guess it's often the case here :p
19:42.17teleshoesgotta say ive never heard of someone with a good experience with police investigating theft
19:42.58pai guess if one cries enough saying your life is in that smartphone, they might try to help
19:43.03jonnimaybe I should setup my track&protect too, as its free to setup, and usually people start to setup after the phone is gone :)
19:43.04paespecially if that's a girl :p
19:43.14ieatlintthe police have a good track record if you have the track&protect style stuff
19:43.37teleshoesi personally think
19:43.42ieatlintbut track&protect is based on your imsi, if they ditch your sim card, it's useless i thought
19:43.44teleshoesthat its like 10x more important to back up your data
19:43.59teleshoesoh, i didnt think so
19:44.00teleshoesmaybe
19:44.20ieatlinti thought you queried the phone via sms where it was with that setup
19:44.27jonniieatlint: it records imei too, and turns of that evil lockcode query if you switch sim card
19:44.46ieatlintjonni: great, but that doesn't recover a phone
