20:51.54HtheBJonni: got any clue why this happens?
20:52.28HtheB"The camera is not responding , try again or restart the device if problem continues"
20:53.39*** join/#harmattan danielcbit (daniel@nat/indt/x-fidsmvuichluxhir)
20:59.27JonniHtheB: that happened on PR1.2 to PR1.3 update, where kernel didnt update, so rootfs was PR1.3 and kernel was still PR1.2, and "reboot -u" fixed it since that command upgraded to PR1.3 kernel after reboot.
20:59.57Jonniso it happens when kernel doesnt match the filesystem
20:59.57HtheBbut I used the camera before?
21:00.03HtheBlike, 2 days ago?
21:00.14HtheBand everytime before that :D
21:00.45Jonniwell then some package has broken the filesystem, and its time to reflash with --erase-user-data=secure :)

21:01.48tehdelyit turned out i was out of inodes on one of my filesystems
21:01.51tehdelyin fact, it's happened to me 2x
21:02.12tehdelyit breaks lots of things, but in particular the camera... i saw, by running the camera app from a shell and looking at what errors got thrown
21:02.14tehdelylots of "no space left on device"
21:02.26tehdelyrun 'df -i'
21:02.41HtheBthe only output that I get is:
21:02.44tehdelythe problem is that /home is sort of under-provisioned.  harmattan puts lots of stuff in /home that really oughta live in /home/user/MyDocs

21:07.59HtheB:(
21:08.22tehdelysomewhere, there is an un-answered mailing list post by a person with your exact problem
21:08.23tehdelyheh
21:08.39Jonniis that N9 or N950?
21:08.50HtheB950
21:09.05Jonniand normal firmware or openmode?
21:09.09HtheBopen
21:09.11HtheBwith ubiboot
21:09.17Jonnijust thinking if you have PR1.2 filesystem and PR1.3 kernel?
21:09.26Jonnior did you flash the leaked PR1.3 filesystem?
21:09.29HtheBleaked yeah
21:09.43HtheBso that shouldnt be the problem
21:09.51HtheBdidnt had the problem before
21:09.58HtheBsomehow, today I just found out about it
21:10.46Jonniand you havent installed any custom deb packages while beeing in openmode? Or if you have you have always used the mandatory AEGIS_FIXED_ORIGIN export before installing?
21:11.19HtheByesterday, I did put some .so files in /usr/lib/
21:11.26HtheBmanually
21:11.29Jonnijust thinging if you have installed any custom servives without using the export, then aegis will prevent system camera from working
21:11.37JonniHtheB: most likely those so files breaks it
21:11.47HtheBI did remove them back though
21:12.01Jonnisince if you put any .so file in usr/lib manually, then you also need to update refhashlist and resign it
21:12.09HtheBhmmm
21:12.47HtheBbut after removing manually, it shouldnt be a problem anymore, right?
21:12.51HtheBor.. am I alraedy late?! :D
21:13.28*** join/#harmattan piggz (~piggz@host-92-18-177-117.as13285.net)
21:13.29Jonniie. if you put unknown origin .so files in system that has com.nokia.maemo files, then aegis will go mad. Adding custom libraries should always be done in a way that they are faked to be com.nokia.maemo origin
21:14.40Jonniwell without seeing the dmesg aegis errors, I have no idea if your late or not, but it sure does sound like reflash time. Or if your lucky reboot might be enough if there is no custom service files or libs in the system anymore
21:15.10HtheBrebooted many times already
21:15.11HtheB:P
21:15.16HtheBso that 'luck' is no more
21:15.47Jonniwell if you dont see any aegis errors in dmesg, then its reflash time
21:18.04HtheBlets see dmesg
21:18.25Jonnimight be just enough to do --flash-only=rootfs, that way you stay in openmode, but have factory rootfs
21:18.41HtheBhmm how about the apps?
21:18.48Jonnigone :)
21:18.52HtheBlol
21:19.00HtheB:D
21:19.09HtheBthen there is no reason to do only rootfs
21:19.13Jonnithats why I have big dir of debs, and I just do dpkg -i *.deb after the reflash :)
21:19.26juicemeJonni, ping

21:19.32HtheBJonni: jup, have it too since the last time
21:20.20juicemeJonni, I was thinking about this flashing kernel from a deb package some time back...
21:20.48juicemehave you ever done that?
21:21.33juicemecan I use /usr/sbin/fiasco-flasher for that?
21:22.38HtheBJonni: dmesg output http://pastebin.com/bkYRmKLL
21:25.59Jonnijuiceme: hmm, yes, I've played with that, but most likely those datails might go under NDA, so unfortunatly can't help you on that.
21:28.20JonniHtheB: nothing in that log, you did try to start camera app, before taking the dmesg?
21:28.27HtheBhmm yes
21:28.31HtheBstart and closed it back
21:28.37HtheBthen dmesg
21:28.48HtheBor should i minimize it?
21:29.23juicemeJonni, that's too bad then :(  see, I was thinking about packaging ubiboot to deb, because as for version -02 now, its fairly safe to install...
21:30.04HtheBaha, i see some errors!
21:30.24juicemeHtheB, I also looked at your paste, and usually there should be something about the camera I guess.
21:30.36HtheBmaybe i was too fast
21:30.44HtheBhad to wait a bit before dmesg
21:30.52juicemecan you check what's in /var/log/messages ?
21:31.14HtheBi see some errors this time on dmesg
21:32.33HtheBuploading on pastebin agian hang on
21:33.59HtheBoh wait no
21:34.15HtheBseems like when I cat the file, to copy text.. it was acting weird
21:34.22HtheBso i saw those error messages ¬¬
21:34.30HtheBbut there is nothing different on the dmesg
21:34.56juicemedmesg records mainly kernel thingies.
21:35.04HtheBjuiceme: what log do you need
21:35.07HtheBi have:
21:35.30juicemea lot of more stuff, daemons, applications, etc. get logged to messages.
21:36.02juicemebut as I said, I don't know much about the camera side...
21:36.03HtheBXorg.0.log.0.gz Xorg.0.log.1.gz Xorg.0.log.2.gz Xorg.0.log.3.gz Xorg.0.log.4.gz alternatives.log apt dpkg.log pareplysms.log pasms.log syslog syslog.old ubiboot.dmesg ubiboot.log
21:36.23juicemeit's the sysylog you want to see.
21:36.34juicemes/sysylog/syslog
21:38.45Jonnijust consider that reflash and dpkg -i *.deb takes 10 minutes, and debugging can take hours :)
21:39.55HtheBoke
21:40.00HtheBJonni: true :)
21:40.10HtheBbut it could be handy for people who also has the same problem as I do
21:40.22HtheBif we can hunt down what the problem might be
21:40.31Jonniofcourse you could do grep aegis /var/log/*  to see if there is any hits
21:40.57HtheBas root?
21:41.08juicemeJonni, trying "/usr/sbin/fiasco-flasher -?" gives awfully same looking options as the regular flasher likes to get, so can it really be NDA stuff if it is analogous to the external flasher...?
21:41.48JonniHtheB:  and you havent installed any deb packages without AEGIS_FIXED_ORIGIN?
21:42.12Jonnias that is the most common problem that people forget to export when installing stuff in openmode.
21:42.44HtheBonly 1
21:42.53HtheBoh w8
21:43.00HtheBuhmmm
21:47.09juicemeJonni, if I try some experimenting with fiasco-flasher, do you think it's possible I brick my device to a state not possible to fix with reflash? Just making sure before I try anything :)
21:47.51Jonnimost likely you can always recover with reflash, so I havent heard anyone ever bricking the device with that
21:50.19juicemethat's good to know. Maybe I'll do some experiments with it then
21:50.41juicemeI guess that's how the OTA update flashes the new kernel?

22:04.15rikaneejuiceme: warning: you can't flash on-device in Open Mode
22:07.36Jonnirikanee: why not? you should even be able to dd the kernel into kernel partition if fiasco flasher doesnt work :)
22:07.49rikaneeJonni: wear leveling is a problem ;)
22:10.37juicemerikanee, I was under the assumption that kernel is flashed "on-the-metal", that there's no wear leveling blocks as it sits there on bare flash, no ubifs etc...
22:11.17rikaneejuiceme: Flasher/NOLO takes care of wear-leveling as it writes, hence the kernel partition being slightly bigger than the usual kernel.
22:11.26juicemeand how would it be different when I flas with external flasher vs. internal flasher?
22:12.03juicemedoes it somehow do it without NOLO?
22:12.08rikaneejuiceme: internal, on-device flasher apparently rejects flashing if in openmode
22:12.22juicemeah, you have tried it?
22:12.40rikaneejuiceme: you can read about it in the Openmode thread, that's why SSU in OM fails
22:12.50rikaneekernel and CMT can't be updated
22:13.03juicemeok, I'll look it up, thanks
22:13.17juicemetoo bad if it's like that
22:13.18rikaneejuiceme: I think that in Harmattan, Linux kernel is now involved in kernel flashing, which is why you need to select an ape-algo
22:13.20Jonnibut your dep  backage would be in secure mode install anyways :)
22:14.11juicemewell I was thinking of the device should be taken to open moda bedore installing the deb.
22:14.17juicemebut why not...
22:14.45juicemecould be amde so that it needs to be installed in closed mode and it triggers open mode when installed :)
22:14.59rikaneejuiceme, btw, I got a "Charge Battery" error while starting HARM with +L2fix (once), so maybe some tweaking is still in order
22:15.00juicemes/amde/made/
22:15.43juicemerikanee, ah it' still not perfect... but the percenatge ratio is _much_ better :)
22:15.58rikaneejuiceme: you could have the user activate dev-mode, and use the package's postinst to both clear the warranty warning and flash the kernel in closed mode
22:16.17juicemeyes, that's doable.

22:18.16juicemeoriginally I thought it's something I cluld never release as package, it depended on so many tweaks like the possibility of not being able to use mtd4 or mtd5 due to eraserblock shortage... but currently there are no such roadblocks any more.
22:19.29juicemeof course it's a bit limiting if the installation is not possible in open mode but it might still be worth a try :)
