00:01.16cowboybryast2
00:01.19cowboybrsorry
00:02.44jadriancowboybr: I use SUSE/KDE
00:02.52cowboybrok
00:03.01cowboybri have a command yast2
00:03.11cowboybri dont know if that is what you are talking about
00:03.19cowboybri have suse/kde
00:03.25jadriancowboybr: you can update in lots of different ways
00:03.34jadrianyou're trying to update to KDE 3.3, right?
00:03.37cowboybryep
00:03.52annmaand what happens as problem?
00:04.09cowboybri just need to know the command or something
00:04.09jadriancowboybr: any specific problem or you just wanna know how to do it
00:04.12jadrianok
00:04.17cowboybri just want to know how to do it
00:04.34jadrianOk so I'll tell you how to do it using yast
00:04.39jadrianmaybe it's the easiest way
00:04.40cowboybrok
00:05.11jadrianfirst of all run YaST Control Center
00:05.15jadriando you know how to do that?
00:05.21cowboybryeah i got it up
00:05.33jadrianSoftware -> Change Source of installation
00:05.55cowboybrok one sec

00:06.35cowboybrgot it
00:06.37jadriannow there you should add a mirror for the  KDE Updates
00:06.46jadrianit is located at
00:07.10jadrianftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.1  (for suse 9.1)
00:07.19jadrianbut you can use any other mirror
00:07.33jadrianfor a list of German and International mirrors see:
00:07.40jadrianhttp://www.suse.de/en/private/download/ftp/germ_mirrors.html
00:07.44jadrianhttp://www.suse.de/en/private/download/ftp/int_mirrors.html
00:07.50jadrianand choose the one you prefer
00:08.02jadrianthe main one which I just gave you works fine too
00:08.37jadrianSo add that source, and enable it
00:09.04jadrianto make it default over others you can move it up on the list of sources
00:09.48jadrian...
00:09.58*** join/#kde NoGodNoMaster (~nogodnoma@p508E6298.dip.t-dialin.net)
00:10.21jadrianAfter that go to Install Packages, and you should have all the KDE 3.3 packages
00:10.29jadrianjust mark them for update
00:10.59Dhraakelliancool
00:11.19Dhraakellianwish I had known that back when I was using suse 9.0 on our laptop
00:11.22cowboybrok it says error on that server
00:11.23jadrian:)
00:11.35jadriancowboybr: try another mirror then
00:12.20cowboybrok i am working on tht
00:12.27jadriancowboybr: maybe ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.1

00:13.17zqxsI must kill artsd any time I want to play RealOne player. is there possibly a way around this?
00:13.29jadrianDhraakellian: I'd just wish there was a way to only see packages from a certain source
00:13.35Theoryzqxs, you can use artsdsp
00:13.37jadrianDhraakellian: it would make things even easier
00:13.55Subvertirzqxs: In KDE 3.3 (can't verify it's in 3.2) you can set a timeout for artsd
00:14.02Subvertirso that it'll release /dev/dsp after X seconds
00:14.04jadrianDhraakellian: That way you could just ask to see everything from the KDE Update source

00:14.26cowboybrhow do i find one that is for kde?
00:14.26jadrianDhraakellian: and just mark that stuff for upgrade, instead of searching through all the packages
00:14.33jadriancowboybr: ?
00:14.48cowboybrare all of those mirrors for kde?
00:14.48jadriancowboybr: I don't undesrtand
00:14.53jadriancowboybr: yes
00:14.55cowboybroh ok
00:15.13jadriancowboybr: supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.1 <---
00:15.18jadriancowboybr: KDE ;)
00:15.18simmerzI'm trying to get K3B working. For some reason, while both cdrecord and cdrdao work fine, and K3B recognizes correctly both the DVD-ROM and the DVD+-RW drive, when i try to open the copy cd window, it wont let me choose a writer device. any ideas?
00:15.52cowboybrok did that
00:16.06jadrianok
00:16.19jadriannow go to "Install and Remove Software"
00:16.30jadrianand just mark the KDE stuff for update
00:16.35cowboybrok
00:16.37cowboybrcool
00:16.48cowboybrthat was easyer then i thought it was going to be
00:17.05cowboybrI heard it is a command u use in gentoo
00:17.06jadrianby selecting one package it will take care of the dependencies for it, and mark the needed ones for update too
00:17.42jadrianso if you choose to upgrade, say, kdepim
00:17.46Dhraakelliancowboybr: 'ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -uav kde'
00:17.51jadrianit should mark kdebase, libs, qt etc
00:17.53jadrianfor upgrade
00:18.09jadriananyway make sure all of those are in deed updated
00:18.16jadrianqt, arts etc
00:18.36cowboybrok
00:18.43Dhraakellianand then cleaning out the old packages manually since KDE 3.2 and 3.3 are in different slots in portage
00:19.28jadrianIn SUSE you can also use apt
00:19.47jadrianand there is a met-package for KDE
00:20.08jadrianbut I haven't used apt for a while
00:20.09zqxsTheory: can I perhaps use artsdsp in the bacgkround for all apps?
00:20.21jadrianin fact I've just installed thing by hand using rpm
00:21.05Theoryzqxs, artsdsp is designed for apps which are not arts aware, you don't need it for kde apps
00:21.26Theoryto use it with a specific app (eg realplayer) the easiest way is to use the menu editor
00:21.32Theoryand modify the real player entry
00:21.43Theoryto call artsdsp
00:22.09jadrian:-/
00:22.13jadriansound always skips
00:22.23jadrianI have to stick with xmms
00:22.36zqxsTheory: ah yes I am anticipating all the editing of configuration and protocol files for non arts konqueror plugins in the future
00:23.14Dhraakellianand then I have arts output to esd
00:25.45Theoryatm I have amarok outputting to xine outputting to artsd
00:27.05DhraakellianI usually only use xine-engine when listening to a live-365 station
00:28.11SubvertirI'd just do killall -9 artsd;realplayer
00:28.16Subvertirbut I'm lazy =)

00:31.52zqxsI guess the easiest way, keeping in mind I never actually start realplayer manually, just from konqueror, is to add artsdsp to /opt/bin/realone script, though ideally prefer artsdsp daemon
00:32.49Dhraakellianzqxs: kmenuedit
00:32.59Dhraakellianfind the realplayer entry
00:33.19Dhraakellianadd artsdsp to the beginning of the command listed for that entry

00:37.10Subvertirthat seems like a better solution...
00:38.59zqxsDhraakellian: I double checked, I think the menu is separate from konqueror's though it shouldn't be. I asked about this a while back, it seems it hasn't been fixed yet. when running an RTSP link from konqueror, the app run is defined by exec line in ~/.kde/share/services/rtsp.protocol if I'm not mistaken

01:13.58annmano, none if you don't have gnome control center
01:14.12marcusUUgh. Those "G" apps are so annoying.
01:14.39Dhraakellianstyle "user-font" {
01:14.39Dhraakellianfont_name = "Helvetica 8"
01:14.39Dhraakellian}
01:14.39Dhraakellianin your .gtkrc-2.0 ?
01:14.40marcusUThere used to be a setting "apply fonts and colors to non-KDE apps" but I don't know if it really worked.
01:14.54Dhraakellianwith a different font and size
01:15.16Dhraakelliangtk-chtheme ?
01:15.50Dhraakellianand if you used gtk-theme-switch, you'd have to do 'switch2' instead of 'switch'
01:16.44Dhraakellian(that stuff, along with some other stuff was put in the file by gtk-chtheme, btw)
