00:03.18nbetcherhello. Can anyone please remind me how to run a GUI application from within a script so that KDE can track it's status so the launch notifiers work properly? I forgot how. I thought it was via 'exec', but that doesn't seem to work
00:06.14nbetcherWas I unclear? :(

00:15.31Rasikstart APP?
00:15.51nbetchercan't be reliant on KDE
00:15.56nbetcherIt's not a KDE app
00:16.00Rasiah i see
00:16.10nbetcherIf it were it would not have this problem :)
00:16.24Rasii dont really understand the problem...
00:16.32Rasia script should just say "app &"
00:16.53nbetcherWhy fork it?
00:17.03Rasidepends what you want to do :)
00:17.26nbetcher`$RUNDIR/app $*` <--- that's what the offending line is
00:17.49Rasican you show the whole line?
00:17.53nbetcherI want it so that when the script is double-clicked the KDe notifications don't bounce until they time out
00:17.57nbetcherThat is the whole line
00:18.04Rasithats the whole line?
00:18.07Rasiwhy the ` `
00:18.10nbetcherI've tried: exec `$RUNDIR/app $*`
00:18.12nbetcheras well
00:18.19nbetcherI assume to expand the variable?
00:18.21Rasiyou know what ` ` does?
00:18.22nbetcherI didn't write this :P
00:18.37nbetcherIn laymans terms I do, I assumed that might mess things up
00:18.39nbetcherlet me change that
00:18.52Rasi` ` returns the ouput of the included command as argument to some command preceeding it
00:19.33Rasisince you dont have a command preceeding it, its useless :)
00:19.47nbetcherI tried putting one in front of it (exec)
00:19.55nbetcherdidn't change the behavior
00:19.56Rasiwhere have you defined rundir?
00:20.11nbetcherabove it as $PWD
00:20.19Rasican i see the script?
