02:33.46haxmeisterwould this be the proper place to ask about KDM?
02:34.37_abhishekhaxmeister: what is it about
02:35.19haxmeisterwell I'd like to customize it's appearance, and would like direction either to the appropriate webpage or config files to change backgrounds/etc
02:35.35haxmeisterI'm using fluxbox, so don't have the KDE config gui
02:36.28sreichwhy don't you just run systemsettings?
02:36.44haxmeisterwell I guess that's what I'm asking
02:37.17haxmeisterI'm not using KDE.. so I imagine there will be some config files I'll have to edit manually?
02:37.29*** part/#kde Peter_G (~Solar@u207.dialup.xnet.com)
02:38.11sreichyou should just be able to run 'systemsettings'
02:38.39haxmeisteron Gentoo?
02:38.52sreichwhat does that have to do with anything?
02:39.13haxmeisterbash: systemsettings: command not found ?
02:39.21sreichbleh
02:39.47sreichthat's interesting..because in order for you to run kdm, you would..I presume..have to haul in kdebase/runtime anyways
02:40.06sreichor are you running kde3?
02:40.13kdepepogentoo splits packages
02:40.30kdepeposo you can have kdm installed without the rest of workspace
02:40.51haxmeisterno KDE4 and the KDEbase is not required on Gentoo unless of course your using KDE as window manager.. do you know where the config files are for KDM?
02:40.55sreichah, thought it was in runtime
02:41.22sreichhaxmeister: yes, I do. but I imagine you will have difficulty using them
02:41.31sreichwhat do you want to do..do you want to install new kdm themes?
02:41.40haxmeisteryes
02:41.44sreichor do you just want to change the background of the existing theme?
02:41.49haxmeisterwould like it to match my desktop better
02:42.05haxmeistermaybe both?

02:42.22kdepepoI wonder why you use kdm if you dont use kde ... you drag in a lot of kde/qt dependencies by installing kdm.
02:42.35sreichthat was what I was wondering
02:42.53kdepepoand if you drag those in, installing systemsettings doesn't get any worse.
02:42.58sreichyup
02:43.15haxmeisterwell I had KDE originally.. but unmerged it .. I'm learning more about linux through slow removal of GUI's.. and with Fluxbox I think I'm where I want to be
02:43.28sreichmight as well, since majority of runtime and kdelibs will need to be installed.
02:43.52haxmeistersystemsettings isn't something that's going to stay running though is it?

02:45.21haxmeisterI can run anything without problems, and still have significant performance gain by the tiny fluxbox system
02:45.52haxmeisterI had KDE4, but 1g of ram didn't leave much room once I had all the nice eye candy active..lol
02:46.23PaddyMacLast night I installed openresolv, and now when I connect to the internet, it no longer automatically puts teh nameserver IP addresses in /etc/resolv.conf. I had to manually add them in order to do anything on the internet. Is there a way to keep wvdial working properly in coexistence with openresolv? I'm assuimg openresolv is teh cause of teh problem. I installed a few things last night.
02:46.31haxmeisternow if I coould get quanta-plus, that would be awesome
02:47.04PaddyMacdhcpcd is the only other thing I can think of that might be the culprit.
02:47.09sreichthen you can browse kde-look.org and such and download themes. Although I'm not entirely certain how much of the syssettings kcm is required to install other themes
02:47.20sreichI've only done it a few times, and this was a long time ago
02:47.37sreichPaddyMac: how is this kde related?
02:47.59haxmeisterok, in the meantime, could you direct me to the actual config files so I could give them a look?
02:48.00PaddyMacOh, My bad. I wasn't paying attention to what forum I was in.
02:48.08PaddyMacI had a few tabs open.

Im using kubuntu 10.04 beta 2, plasma-desktop suddenly is using like 1GB memory, kwin a good 450MB and xorg some 750MB.. since I have like 2,5GB memory, just opening firefox kicks me in swapping.. Is this a new bug? The alpha versions didn't have this issue..
