00:26.00monirhey i'm struggling to get my dual monitor setup to work under kde 4.3.5, it seems impossible to convince krandrtray to make one big desktop
00:26.45monirusing xrandr from the commandline i can set the correct resolutions for the screens just fine, only kde doesn't seem to get the memo
00:27.21Kyrilsreich : well, i can't find it
00:27.34KyrilI'm on 4.5b1
00:27.54monirwhen is set to 1280x1024, and VGA-0 is set to 1024x768 you can see 1280 pixels , starting on vga onto main display
00:28.04sreichKyril: easiest way is just unlock widgets, right click panel->panel settings
00:28.12sreichKyril: mouse over the task manager area, click the wrench
00:28.14moniraka it only displays the 1280x1024, eventhough it's across two screens

00:28.45monirany ideas would be welcome :)
00:29.21monirthe screens work, the driver 'works', kde just needs to be told to use all of it ?

02:37.09lumaI'm using Kubuntu but I've heard it's a bad release of KDE
02:37.23lumaso what is the recommended distro for using KDE?
02:38.03koflertry archlinux
02:38.11koflerthey just use stock upstream stuff
02:38.25koflerif you find bugs in anything, then they relay it to upstream and it gets fixed and it helps every distribution
02:38.39lumaoh right. will look into that
02:38.45sreichalthough be warned: it's not as trivial as e.g. kubuntu

02:40.49sreichjust follow the wiki, it's all laid out
02:40.53lumaok

02:41.32lumasomeone kicked me from linuxmint because i asked about reporting a bug in kdenlive
02:41.38sreichthink that's somewhere on the site
02:41.50lumaand called the old version "shitty"...
02:41.53lumano warning
02:42.10lumayep thanks sreich, checking that out
02:42.17sreichwell, calling any individual's work anything demeaning is bound for repercussions
02:43.11lumano i said that 0.7.5 is the old shitty (buggy) release and that 0.7.7.1 is the brand new rewrite
02:43.26lumabecause there's a big leap in quality there
02:43.31lumai'm really impressed with kdenlive
