00:09.46oobesreich do you know if pam is needed?
00:09.56oobei use slackware and it doesnt have pam
00:10.19gorgonzolajsevilleja: i had the same issue. apparently the kcm module is bugged, you need to edit your kdmrc file by hand...
00:10.25sreichoobe: tried running what from konsole?

00:13.06oobesreich, qdbusviewer doesnt seem to have a run dialogue how do tell it to execute a command?
00:13.22gorgonzolajsevilleja: i don't know. at least at release time in lucid, it was not solved. I haven't tested in the newer kde versions, though.

01:08.51blip-where would be a good place to see screenshots of KDE4 plasma desktops ?  I'm trying to see what nice arrangements are out there to help figure out my own.   For example I can't figure out if I need a battery monitor on my system tray as well as the desktop, or if I need that Amarok Music Player widget
01:10.59sreichwhy would you need the battery monitor on the desktop & the system tray?
01:11.28James147blip-: you dont 'need' anything on your desktop :) place what ever you 'want' on it... its not like once you choose you cant change things :)
01:11.41sreichalso, you can put the system tray onthe desktop. just to give you more options :-D
01:13.41blip-The unlimited possibilities are making me dizzy :D   I've never really used widgets in Linux or Windows before - now they are so nice that some can replace programs - I'm thinking of having a utility desktop that has Qalculate, Conversion, News updates etc..  then I won't have to open a browser for that sort of thing :)
01:14.27blip-sreich: ye I dragged the system tray on the desktop  by accident once, was pretty shocking :D
01:14.42James147blip-: I would place stuff like that on the dash board so that you can brin it up without switching desktop/minimising all your windows
01:15.17blip-James147: the dashboard can have it's own widgets that don't show up on the normal desktop ?
01:15.29James147blip-: generally though, I suggest playing around with each of the widgets and finiding the ones you like... and where you like them :)
01:15.35James147bipolar: yes
01:15.39James147blip-: ^^ sorry

10:00.00mrubhi. a few days ago i asked how to get my kmail pop account to download the mails again which i deleted locally (but they are still present on the server). unfortunately the suggestion to delete the account didn't work - after recreation of that account it still wouldn't download the mails. so where does kmail store the information which mail to download and which not? any idea (or at least can you understand what i'm talking about? ;) )?
10:01.31cb400fwonder if you could download them with thunderbird and import them to kmail :-)

14:38.40ahmoshi, I want a powerful video converter program please, anybody knows one?
14:39.01Jucatoahmos: might want to check konverter in www.kde-apps.org
14:39.09Jucato(I think that's the name)
14:39.31xzyKatovatzschyn: k, thank you.
14:39.54ahmosyeah most of converters there depends on kde3 libs and wants a lot of tweaking
14:40.37ahmosknow any thing else
14:40.59Jucatowell there's kdenlive, but it's not exactly a converter but an editor. no other ideas sorry
14:41.27Jucatoahmos: if it doesn't have to be a KDE app, you could try asking in your distro for recommendations

14:42.14ahmosJucato ok thank you I will try ...
14:43.51Gentoochildahmos: if it's just the conversion, try mencoder or ffmpeg ;-)

14:44.49Jucatoyou might have to search a bit for tutorials for those two command line utilities. I think there are Service Menus (right-click on a file in Dolphin or Konqueror) that support that
