01:45.46KWhat4Sho_: you use any alsa apps out side of phonon ?
01:45.58Sho_KWhat4: sure, e.g. VLC and Wine
01:46.18KWhat4can vlc and amarok play sound at the same time
01:46.29Sho_yup
01:46.35KWhat4whats your asound conf look like
01:47.20Sho_well, right now I use PulseAudio, but before I switched distros last fall I had plain ALSA, with dmix auto-loaded by ALSA at boot time since the Intel HDA on my mobo can't do hardware mixing
01:47.38Sho_that just worked[tm], I didn't have to really pull any asound.conf/.asoundrc magic
01:48.35KWhat4something like load-module module-alsa-sink sink device=dmix
01:49.51Sho_KWhat4: i did have one problem with dmix once, but that was unrelated to phonon: when you have two sound cards, and one can do hardware mixing and one can't, you have to make sure that the mixing-incapable card gets registered as the first card, otherwise ALSA won't auto-load dmix
01:50.06Sho_that can be achieved with the index parameter to ALSA driver kernel modules to force a card order
01:50.45*** join/#kde KukuNut (~kubuku@adsl-69-209-236-87.dsl.chcgil.sbcglobal.net)
01:50.50Sho_that bit me when I had an X-fi in the box in addition to the Intel HDA
01:51.08Sho_without forcing the order the X-Fi would get registered as card0 and ALSA wouldn't auto-load dmix for the Intel HDA
01:51.17Sho_reversed the card order and that did the trick
01:51.46KWhat4mmm how to i force dmix
01:52.15Sho_no idea, i didn't have to force it ... ALSA normally auto-loads it when card 0 needs it

03:29.58Advil_yes, the delay between when the menu items show up.  It's nearly instantaneous on my system and makes it hard to get to sub-menus
03:31.16Sho_i guess I don't really follow
03:36.21Advil_hard to explain, I guess.  eg: click the "start button"... go to something like "tools" (on my Mandriva), then "System Tools".  Navigating to "System Tools" can be trying on my patience when my mouse moves off to another part of the menu system for a split second, because it displays whatever your mouse moved to instantaneously.  It switches to the other menu item too quickly forcing you to follow the whole menu line

22:05.29Torchmalinka: it doesn't know, afaik.
22:06.03Torchmalinka: xrender and/or opengl don't work. kwin notices that. but it can't tell why.

22:56.38sabayonuserTo where it's the regular desktop.

23:00.59sabayonuserJames147: I got it on "Desktop" formfactor. But it keeps going back to the netbook look.
23:01.50James147hmm, try quiting plasma-netbook (kquitapp plasma-netbook) and running plasma-desktop form a terminal
23:03.13sabayonuserJames147: Umm, I mean. It looks like the netbook, it's not in netbook mode. I meant that the desktop it's self looks like the netbook feel. I want my old desktop back where I can change the wallpaper and whatnot.
23:05.47James147sabayonuser: you can change the wallpapaer on the netbook view... if you already running plamsa-desktop then you might need to change the desktop settings > activity to "Desktop"  (you can get to the desktop settings via the cachew  that should be in one of the corners)
