00:09.48anishmanuel_: file a bug. this for example got resolved fairly quickly https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=264076
00:10.04manuel_plasma-desktop and plasma-netbook both affected
00:11.21manuel_Sho_: i had trouble with 260 on another machine with new install and clean user, now also with the 270beta on my machine with a 6800
00:11.37Sho_9600GT here
00:11.39manuel_the 260 was an ion laptop

00:17.19Sho_ah hm. if it you had 4.7.x we could have tried using the QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM env variable to switch to the raster graphics engine and cut much of the driver out of the equation
00:17.26manuel_thewanderer1: 256 works for all normal services, but flash fullscreen
00:17.58thewanderer1well flash fullscreen has never worked for me, neither NVIDIA nor Intel, so I'm not surprised
00:18.01manuel_well, i'm not afraid of updating, but i did not recently check the suse repos
00:18.27manuel_thewanderer1: it worked before on the same setup...well, almost the same..
00:18.29Sho_manuel_: you have to admit that it's odd to ask for a timeline and not be running the latest versions of KDE and Qt .)
00:18.49manuel_Sho_: i thought i have

00:20.07manuel_i'll have a peek
00:20.51manuel_uhm, the opensuse site says in a quick translate:
00:21.33manuel_32bit systems with prop-nvidia and the 4.6 repos will have trouble caused by https://bugs.kde.org/251719
00:21.34Sho_manuel_: Try upgrading, and if the problem persists, and provided you did upgrade to Qt 4.7.x, put a foo.sh file in $KDEHOME/env/ (where $KDEHOME is $HOME/.kde or $HOME/.kde4 depending on distro, and make the env folder if necessary), chmod +x it and put 'export QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=raster' in it, without the quotes - that switches Qt from using XRender to using its own rasterization routines, which often avoids driver bugs

00:23.33Sho_sigh nvidia and their driver bugs
00:23.56manuel_well, i would get rid of it, but nouveau sucks even more
00:24.16manuel_dual monitor setup and spontanious freezes
00:24.38Sho_yeah, it's a frustrating situation
00:25.04manuel_and i like 3d for minecraft at least ;)
00:25.39Sho_I'd day nouveau's 3D is probably good enough for minecraft at this point :-) unless it's getting caught in some corner case
00:25.43Sho_*say
00:26.31manuel_maybe, but having complete system-freezes caused by the gui scares me
00:27.06Sho_last year nvidia's drivers had a fun bug that caused the system to freeze up for 20-30 seconds every time Kickoff was opened
00:27.09manuel_i also won't blame kde for this, but thought of a work around
00:27.13Sho_that was a fun one, too

00:27.39manuel_they're quite quick sme time ;)
00:28.15Sho_yeah, unlike adobe, who has been unable for months now to fix a bug in flash that causes broken audio on 64bit because they can't read the C docs and used memcpy where they should have used memmove
00:28.31manuel_lol
00:28.51manuel_anyway, maybe i try 64bit some day, but now have leave for some live action...on flash ;)

23:03.06PhoenixzIs there anything known about kmix being.. really weird?  I have most of my daily issues with this little bugger.. On multiple monitors, every now and then, changing volume will frack up screen configuration (usually one of the two will go black, I have to reconfigure).. kmix on 0-30% gives no sound.. after 30% it is on 80% actually, and 30%-100% is for the rest of the 20%.. in a few words, I have the choice between no sound, or loud.. sometimes one tap
23:03.08Phoenixzon the volume+ button makes it go from 0% to 100% at once.. Somehow its a heavy thing.. volume+ makes HD work for some 5 seconds before kmix shows, while other programs work normally.. I could go on for a while..
23:03.32PhoenixzSo can anybody tell me.. is this normal behaviour? And also, are there alternatives to kmix?
