01:14.37JucatoRug: System Settings -> Workspace Behavior -> Screen Edges
01:14.49RugThanks
01:20.10RugIs there anyway to completely remove 'activities' and leave virtual desktops?  Or get rid of activities and virtual desktops?
01:22.24Jucatoif you're not on version 4.7, there should only be one activity by default anyway. on 4.7 there are others setup by default. just remove the ones you don't need. same with virtual desktops (right-click on the pager -> Pager Settings or System Settings -> Workspace Behavior -> Virtual desktops)

01:23.29RugI have 4.6.2
01:23.39*** join/#kde |jwash| (~kvirc@173-13-186-66-sfba.hfc.comcastbusiness.net)
01:25.18RugThere are 5 activities and no way to delete them, by clicking on them it switches to an entire new desktop+virtual desktop setup.
01:25.50RugApplications that I have running disappear if I click one of the activities orbs.
01:26.26Jucatoyou have to stop them first before you can delete them I think. there should be a stop button there in the activity icon
01:27.08Jucatohm ... I seem to be missing that as well. weird
01:27.21Jucatoah there it is
01:27.48Jucatoif you stop the activity, the stop button will turn into a close (x) button.
01:28.25RugBut how did I start the activity?
01:29.09RugI have 20 things running on all 4 virtual desktops, do I need to close them all and then try to disable activities?
01:29.17Jucatoby simply switching to it (or if it was stopped, there was a play button)
01:30.09Jucatono. virtual desktops and activies are separate
01:30.54Rugack, confusing.
01:31.21*** join/#kde aledec (~aledec@unaffiliated/aledec)
01:31.27RugI get the point of having it (although that is what I used virtual desktops for) I just don't like it.
01:31.30Jucato(not really sure why you have 5 activities anyway, when the default before 4.7 is only one)
01:31.54RugJucato: I just 'discovered' it 5 minutes ago.

But there are still many missing bits in Wayland itself to make it ready for desktop usage, and also consider that Qt won't really support Wayland until Qt 5, so KDE *apps* becoming Wayland clients will take a good while longer than the kwin side of things.

22:48.28Sho_desti: It enables a certain set of effects from the All Effects list, e.g. Darken Parent if I remember correctly

22:50.15*** join/#kde jwash (~kvirc@173-13-186-66-sfba.hfc.comcastbusiness.net)
22:50.28Sho_I'd say the notion is that dimming the parent window of a modal dialog window facilitates better window management by guiding the attention of the user, in a similar way as differing window decorations between inactive and active windows have for a long time, which I assume you're going to accept is a function of window management
22:50.50dyrvereSho_: What happened to the blur effect for the same purpose?

22:55.22Sho_The way the blur effect works is that it checks for a window hint on windows, and that hint contains the region of the window behind which blur should be applied
