01:21.00robotdevilIs anyone else with me about wanting the older KDE menu (application laucher) that had a back button to make you be able to reverse out of menu entries. I nstead of having to use the written word on the right side
01:23.19robotdevilkickoff I believe its called
01:23.47craigevilright click> use classic menu

01:26.12robotdevilclassic is a PITA

01:26.35robotdevilhttp://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=97206
01:28.33robotdevilat least my mouses back button works in the menu :-)

01:35.52robotdevilsince the widgets are so customizable/removable, couldnt I just get a older version of kickoff and add as widget?
01:36.35DaZprobably plasma api changed a few times and it doesn't work anymore, but you could try i guess :f
01:37.23robotdevilDaZ: sorry what doesnt work?
01:37.48DaZthe older menu plasmoid.
01:37.57robotdeviloh i see
01:38.58robotdevilI read it was changed because of incompatibility with right side of screen
01:39.09robotdevilI dont see how that is possible
01:40.20robotdevilits in its own little frame and is not much different now, just more tedious

01:48.38craigevilkde 4.8.3 just using the classic menu
01:48.47DaZvanilla kde 3 used it, kickoff was a patch from suse, iirc ;f
01:49.17DaZsimilar menu, i mean.
01:49.34robotdevilright, sarcasim (or whatever), sorry not trying to be rude
01:49.53robotdevilclassic menu = win98
01:50.07robotdevilis what I was trying to say
01:51.00robotdevilso is kickoff the wrong name for kde4 application launcher
01:51.33robotdevilI thought it was lancelot, kickoff and classic
01:51.45Belial`kickoff is the default launcher for kde
01:51.56robotdevilok

01:56.22DaZwhen did it have back button? :f
01:56.49Belial`he means the button on the left of the menu
01:56.56DaZo rly
01:57.00Belial`to go back after navigating through categories.
01:57.44DaZstill, i'm asking which version had it last :f
01:58.00Belial`i think it might have been 4.6.x
01:58.04robotdevilI think 4.7 it changed
01:58.15Belial`yeah, it did change with 4.7.x
01:58.23robotdevilnot 100% on that
01:58.43Belial`i don't mind the new method all that much. i mostly use krunner
01:58.47robotdevil4.6 to 4.8 was very swift
01:59.29robotdevileven my sister phoned and asked what happened to it :p
01:59.33Belial`so the menu is kind of irrelevant for me. other than a few apps i use as favorites because i don't want to clog up my panel with launchers in icontasks.
01:59.38DaZi keep menu icon on the panel mostly because it feels so empty without it :f

02:30.24joseph_are you using kde
02:30.39DaZno, we're all using gnome.
02:30.45DaZhence the channel name.

02:37.16DaZhttp://wklej.org/id/764383/
02:37.36DaZand then i did make DESTDIR=~/pkg install and packaged it, but dunno what distro are you using :f
02:38.25robotdevilkubuntu 12.04
02:39.24DaZthen it'd be nice if you use checkinstall
02:42.33robotdevilDaZ: so I have never really compiled anything, since stuff that is, is not handled by package manager
02:43.13DaZrobotdevil: checkinstall theoretically makes it handlable by package manager
02:43.53DaZalthough i've never used it :f
02:44.11robotdevilhas installed two gentoo systems before and thats it for anything that resembles compiling
02:44.54robotdevilhttp://wklej.org/id/764383/      so thats all I would have to do
02:45.35DaZplus installing it :f
02:46.58DaZyou can alwas ghetto rig it by make DESTDIR=~/pkg install to install it in your home directory, find where your kde install keeps the original files and just replace them, imo.
02:48.43robotdevilmaybe I will try from a vm so I dont break my current system
