IRC log for #kde on 20121028

00:01.16paultresellihi running Linux Mint 10 , just installed KDE 4.x don't know exactly which except dpkg -l *kde* outputs 5:63Ubuntu7.2. Anyway, I was editing an 'activity' and at some point resized the kde app launcher really large and the connection froze. Now I cannot get back into KDE even after reboots

10:35.05BluesKajHiyas all
10:35.36AMDAthlonoh i see
10:35.40AMDAthlonlike notepad vs Wordpad?
10:36.02Sho_AMDAthlon: No not really, Notepad is a plain text editor and Wordpad is a rich text editor (i.e. formatting like italic and bold)
10:36.02Rasiin fact kwrite uses a simplified version of kate
10:36.08Rasiusing kparts
10:36.15Sho_AMDAthlon: KWrite and Kate are both plain text editors
10:36.31Sho_Rasi: Both use the same technology under the hood called KTextEditor, yep

I found a report about a bug where the SC didn't update the search index, but the Package Manager did, so I loaded the package manager, waited for the search index to rebuild, and went back to the SC. Still zero results. What else can I try?
