08:20.36 | saedelaere | hi, i deactivated nepomuk and akonadi to reduce memory usage and because I don't these features. now I remember to I have deactivated one more thing. It was something like the start menu (k-menu) to quick access applications and settings. I think it was made like a dropdown box and it must be part of a base installation of kde. stopping this service did significantly reduce memory usage but I can't remember the name. Anyone an idea what I mean? |
08:21.02 | Sho_ | saedelaere: krunner |

08:30.24 | Zaister | I've noticed a change in KDE 4.11 in the behavior of window snapping with a two-monitor setup. When I snap a window to the edge between the monitors, a small portion of the window border protrudes onto the other monitor. Previously the border would align perfectly along the edge. |

21:59.02 | mtu | hiyas. the latest 4.11 PPA update has broken my linux mint startup completely. i cannot even startx into KDE, kdmlog says "no DBUS session-bus". any ideas? |
22:03.15 | wgosling | mtu: is the dbus daemon started? |
22:03.30 | mtu | wgosling: yes, the system bus is running |

22:07.24 | wgosling | reading my kdm log, it says that as well. probably not your issue. |
22:09.19 | mtu | hum. what happens is this: login is accepted, screen goes black, kdm reappears. |
22:09.51 | mtu | same thing on startx: X starts (successfully, according to .xsession-errors), KDE doesn't start, X exits |
