00:52.00karthikpDrevkevac: That happens to be the current bug of the month: https://community.kde.org/Gardening#Current_Bug_Of_The_Month
00:52.48karthikpThe issue is that when using pulseaudio, and setting the system notification volume to some value causes the volume to jump to that value when a system notification happens.
00:54.23karthikpThe temporary workaround is to make this slider equal to whatever system volume you have: http://i.imgur.com/iiW9HRy.png
00:54.36karthikpThat way, when a system notification happens, the volume doesn't change.

07:12.34*** join/#kde thiago (~thiago@kde/thiago)
07:12.35karthikpSetting it to show tasks on current screen basically means, don't show the entry of the window if the window is not on this screen.
07:13.05*** join/#kde crucerucalin (~calin@p22.eregie.pub.ro)
07:15.35karthikpHmm, upon re-reading, it sounds like the issue is that the task manager widget is not respecting the show only apps on this screen setting. I'm booting up my laptop to see if I can reproduce this.
07:17.44karthikpOkay, can't reproduce this. I placed a panel on each of the two screens with one set to show tasks only on this screen. It worked exactly as expected. Only if I moved a window to that screen did the window show up on that task manager.
07:17.52karthikpshiggitay: ^
07:18.55karthikpIf it's not too disruptive, see removing the task manager widget and readding it fixes the problem.
07:20.32shiggitaykarthikp, well yeah my issue arises when the window is too wide
07:21.14karthikpOh. Got it. Testing that case... brb.
07:21.19shiggitayk
07:22.31*** join/#kde crucerucalin (~calin@p22.eregie.pub.ro)
07:22.34karthikpOkay, yeah. I confirm this behavior. Even if the window extends a few pixels into the other screen, it's considered as being on the screen and shows up in the task manager on that screen.
07:22.41shiggitayyep!
07:22.52shiggitayChromium does it and it's normally maximized
07:23.01shiggitayI had to make it JUST narrower
07:23.07shiggitayand it doesn't do it
07:23.29shiggitaythat doesn't make any sense to me as to why it's doing but yeah
07:23.39karthikpThat I can't reproduce. I can safely maximize chromium on one screen without "triggering" the other one.
07:23.49shiggitayodd
07:24.01shiggitayhmm
07:24.22karthikpTry getting rid of any special settings for chromium windows (I mean, alt+f3).
07:24.34shiggitaywell karthikp try this: drag a window in between displays and leave it there
07:24.43shiggitaylike in limbo between the two
07:24.44shiggitayand ok
07:24.48karthikpI tested that. It definitely triggers.
07:25.01karthikpWhich makes sense programmatically speaking.
07:25.11shiggitayI guess
07:25.23karthikpif ( window.occupiesDisplay( display ) ) ...
07:25.35shiggitaysince it can't determine exactly which display it's in
07:25.44karthikpBut the maximize thing shouldn't be happening.
07:25.49shiggitayyeah
07:26.11karthikpIf the window is full screen on one display, only that display should think the window is present.
07:26.18shiggitayINDEED
07:26.35karthikpSee if there are any window special settings that are interfering with this.
07:26.37shiggitayI went nuts recompiling stuff (on Funtoo Linux)
07:27.11karthikpAlways a recipe for a fun weekend, recompiling things willy-nilly. :)
07:27.19shiggitaylol yeah
07:27.32shiggitayand I don't see any special window settings for Chrome
07:27.39shiggitayer Chromium
07:28.05shiggitayI guess having it just slightly narrower than my 24" 1080p res works for now

07:29.19shiggitayhmm
07:29.22shiggitayI dunno

07:30.37shiggitayand that solved it for Hexchat?
07:30.46karthikpHmm. kwin can pin a window to appear on all desktops. But then, it physically appears on all desktops. Here, only the task manager is freaking out.

11:13.29GNUtoo-irssihi,
11:13.55GNUtoo-irssiI've an old tablet pc, and I'd like to use it as a tablet, as-is kde4 didn't work well, so I tried gnome3,
11:14.15GNUtoo-irssignome3 worked well with the touch but gnome3 is not meant for power users and I'm used to kde
11:14.27GNUtoo-irssihere are the main issue with tablet usage:
11:14.46GNUtoo-irssi1) Click jiter makes entering a folder a very difficult adventure on dolphin
11:15.07GNUtoo-irssi2) no way to control the music player from the lock screen
11:15.15GNUtoo-irssiso I wonder if all that is fixable
11:15.34GNUtoo-irssiI've tried looking into the settings, but I've concluded it's rather a QT issue since dolphin has the same issues on gnome3
11:17.45GNUtoo-irssiso I tried qtconfig-qt4: I changed the double click interval (I lowerd it to 50ms) and something called strut which I increased (I didn't find out what it was supposed to do)
11:17.52GNUtoo-irssibut the issue remains
11:18.12GNUtoo-irssiI also tried the qt5 plasma
11:18.52GNUtoo-irssibut I kept all kde4 applications, because in my distro the qt5 versions are not packaged yet (an arch derived distro)

20:45.06daemon_erebuseplightning, Yeah I noticed that a gtk option wasn't available under Application Style, wasn't too sure about correcting that though. Thanks.

21:23.53kazugo13aren't there any installation/compile instructions provided in a README file?

21:35.55ubuntuaddictedkazugo13, following the directions here: http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/NVidia+Device+Monitor?content=148658  it says if the scripts don't work than I can just mkdir build && cd build and run the cmake command but it appears that it can't then find the nvidiaengine.cpp file which is in a folder up
21:36.17ubuntuaddictedkazugo13, yes
21:36.22kazugo13Try to check if all the files got extracted properly.
21:38.07ubuntuaddictedkazugo13, im working with the linked .gz from dropbox at the bottom since he stated that it was updated to include fan speed. is that the issue?
21:39.16kazugo13ah, I see
21:39.25kazugo13the dropbox version is missing the correct folder structure
21:40.39ubuntuaddictedkazugo13, ok, so i should start with the original folder structure, and then just overwrite the specific files that are in the dropbox .gz?
21:40.48kazugo13i think that is the easiest solution.
