22:10.16kadobanIs there any kind of guide somewhere for how to get a microphone to work in general? I can never figure it out, I swear. I end up spending forever messing around in alsamixer and none of it makes sense, and I never see anything useful in kmix?

22:12.11BlaXpiritkadoban, why alsamixer
22:12.22BlaXpiriti can understand  pavucontrol
22:12.24BlaXpiritbut this?
22:12.44BlaXpiritmicrophone is supposed to just work
22:12.54BlaXpiritif it doesn't work, you need troubleshooting, not just sound settings
22:13.45kadobanBlaXpirit: Never heard of it, alsamixer used to be the old way. I know it's worked before on recentish kde/linux. I'll try your suggestion, thanks.

22:14.44BlaXpiritdefinitely check out pavucontrol
22:14.57BlaXpirithopefully you haven't broken everything with alsamixer

22:17.24kadobanHmm, I only have one "Built-in Audio Analog Stereo" in each category in there, I guess that means I'm potentially good? I'm just using my mic port, a crappy plugin headset, not USB or anything.
22:17.47BlaXpiritkadoban, very unusual that it doesn't work
22:17.50ShalokShalomok, thats fine then
22:17.51BlaXpiritmaybe it's broken?
22:17.58BlaXpiritmaybe you just need to unmute it?

22:18.24kadobanHmm, pavucontrol definitely looks useful. I see something happening on talking. I'll play a few minutes and see if I can figure it out. Naw, no physical mute button. Brb
