01:25.28kajikait seems there is a lot of kwin desktop effects crashes, does anyone have insight/solution about that? (debian buster with GeForce GTS 450)
01:26.02asturmkajika: my solution is to avoid nvidia
01:26.04thiagowhat crashes? X or kwin?
01:26.35asturmyour solution my be testing around with different nvidia-drivers versions if available
01:26.38asturm*may
01:27.51kajikait is about kwin and looking on google it is widely spread
01:28.33asturmkajika: kwin is certainly stable at least with my intel and amd boxes
01:28.36kajikawhen it happens the 'panel' (task bar?) get kinda stuck (clock frozen)
01:28.49kajikaso nvidia driver then...
01:29.07kajikaI wanted to know if anyone here is aware of this issue
01:29.48asturmkajika: latest xorg-server-1.20 beta/rc were also troublesome on my intel system, but you get what you ask for
01:30.12asturmin that case downgrade to stable helped
01:31.14kajikadowngrade kwin only?
01:31.58kajikaafter kwin_x11 --replace I can see a bunch of 'QXcbConnection: XCB error: 3 (BadWindow)', I am investingating this
01:32.00asturmkajika: the freezing panel issue is not related to a particular kwin version
01:32.14asturmkajika: that message is just noise you can ignore
01:32.21jankusanagi_kwin is ultrastable here with Nvidia, nouveau driver =)

And after rebooting with old kernel it worked again, but not these buttons in the red area.

22:18.01jalcinearey1014[lp]: breeze theme for KDE/Qt (application theme) or the desktop theme (Plasma)?
22:18.13jalcineIt might be a bit confusing but those have two separate theming system
22:18.42jalcinemore recent versions of KDE have a function called "Look and Feel" which you can use to centralize/align themes across the system
22:18.48jankusanagi_any notification?
22:18.55jankusanagi_versions of Plasma =)
22:19.08arey1014[lp]5.12

22:20.19arey1014[lp]jalcine:  so should is there a way to change kde/qt in settings?
22:20.25jankusanagi_try switchching the Plasma theme to something else, apply, then switch back
22:20.39jankusanagi_the application (widgets) theme has nothing to do with this
22:20.49jalcine^
22:22.06arey1014[lp]so under 'Look And Feel' or 'Desktop Theme'
22:22.08arey1014[lp]?

22:39.15jalcinesorry about that, switched screens
22:39.27jalcineoh that does _not_ look like a KDE specific notificaiton

22:40.23jankusanagi_yeah, that notification is not from Plasma
22:40.24arey1014[lp]oh ok cool.  how can I test it?
22:40.57jankusanagi_you can run:   kdialog --passivepopup test
22:41.12arey1014[lp]unlocking widets on panel shows the same notification and that's plasma

22:41.37jankusanagi_anyway, the notification on your screenshot look a lot like the notifications on Xfce or Mate
22:41.54jankusanagi_so you probably have some daemon from them, controlling notifications
22:41.59jankusanagi_instead of Plasma

22:45.14jankusanagi_no problem :D
22:46.10arey1014[lp]I've been installing plasma on each box I have.  It's really been cleaned up.  Thanks guys
22:47.03jalcineit's only going to get better
22:47.04jankusanagi_\o/
22:47.14jalcinethe VDG's working hard at making Plasma awesome
22:47.51arey1014[lp]hopefully I can get a better wayland experience with 5.13
22:48.08arey1014[lp]right now plasma crashes when closing windows with 5.12
22:48.44jalcineif you can get a bug report with a useful stacktrace (like with debugging symbols installed), be sure to report (or attach if there's a relevant one that exist)
22:50.53arey1014[lp]jalcine:  ok.  If I can get to it I will.
