19:36.06 | sixwheeledbeast | Off topic but I consider it a good place to ask. Any tips on removing and resoldering a SMD LED? I have a SMD LED that is the wrong way around on a PCB. I am hopeful it hasn't been blown by reverse voltage and flipping it around will fix it. |
20:07.53 | Joerg-Neo900 | preheat in oven or on hotplate if possible, then hot air soldering tool. Or solder tweezers |
20:33.58 | sicelo | hotplate, stove? |

21:11.35 | sixwheeledbeast | Not something I have. I can see solder tweezers being useful in other repairs. Was hoping I could warm PCB up with a hot air gun then, solder pump and wick most of the solder away. |
21:12.02 | sixwheeledbeast | That would be how I normally do through hole. |

23:42.09 | Joerg-Neo900 | warm up in your oven to maybe 120 or 140°C. Then use hot air with - don't know - 250°C or a tad more I guess. Use tweezers to *twist* the LED off its pads. NEVER lift a component off the PCB, odds are ypu'll tear off the copper reaces / pads in 9 out of 10 tries |
23:43.27 | Joerg-Neo900 | twist or slide compnent out of place so it doesn't fit on the pads of footprint anymore. Then it's safe to lift off |
