00:03.05joshinDoes anyone know why "FS_SYNC=y" is set in openzaurus-sa kernel builds?  After doing some reading, it seems that that option dramatically slows down SD speeds.
00:06.20Cwiiisjoshin: It means that ejecting the SD card at any time is generally safe
00:06.30treke|laptopjoshin: You don't want to do async writing with a removable device :p
00:06.55treke|laptopIf the card is pulled when you think writing is finished, but it isn't, you end up with a corrupt data
00:07.07joshinI understand that but if you never remove the card, you shouldn't care much.
00:07.30treke|laptopIt shouldn't affect write speed much anyways
00:08.16joshinPerhaps but with the 32k/s I'm getting now anything would be better.  ;)
00:09.37treke|laptopI'd be surprised if it went up to 33 :p
00:10.04joshinI'll let you know...  :)

03:37.49joshintreke|ho1e: Did you see my results from unsetting FD_SYNC?  SD performance went from 32kb/s to 60kb/s.
03:38.00treke|ho1eno i didnt
03:38.03treke|ho1esurprising
03:38.40treke|ho1ewell you're welcome to disable it for your builds :)
03:38.50treke|ho1eI doubt we'll switch the main builds over for saftey
03:39.07joshinI thought so.  But both sets of tests were done on freshly rebooted systems to try and minimize variable changes.
03:39.46joshinI don't think I'd recommend doing that either unless the main builds deliberately set the mounts to be sync in the fstab.
03:40.54joshinWhich is what I did for my CF card's entry.  Just figured you'd be (a little) interested in the results.
