01:18.24MartynIn OZ current, how do I change VT's?
01:18.45MartynAlso, I just got OZ loaded onto my SL-C3100 with the new kernel .. but in 640x480 everything is soooooo tiny
01:18.57MartynIs there a way to make the bar at the bottom of the screen bigger?
01:30.35MartynHmm .. sound is a bit choppy still.   *sigh*
01:30.39MartynStill, big improvement!
01:31.09jd86I made the mistake of selecting terminal 1 (i thought it would open command prompt window) how do i get back to vt2?
01:31.26offroadgeekchvt 2
01:31.36jd86thanks
01:31.37offroadgeekIIRC
01:32.20jd86it worked.
01:32.38offroadgeekyep... it pissed my off before I knew that
01:32.47jd86now, would you happen to know why the screen appears to lock up when installing a package but if i leave it, it'll eventually install what i selected
01:33.15offroadgeekI would accidentally switch to vt1 via opie then have to reboot the damn z :)
01:33.24jd86heh
01:34.30offroadgeekhmm... no idea about the lockups... sorry
01:34.43jd86ugh now the usb isn't working, i wonder what i screwed up this time
01:38.58MartynWoot ..
01:39.14MartynNow :}  How do I change the background image?
01:39.27Martynright now, it's a repeating image of the opie .. but I have the luxury of a 640x480 screen :}
01:39.52MartynIs there a "set desktop background" control/dialoge?
01:40.31offroadgeekMartyn:  launcher > Tabs > select a tab then click edit
01:41.11offroadgeekthe nice thing with opie... you can set a different image for each tab if you want
01:41.14Martynoffroadgeek : Neat :}  Okay, this is spiffy.
01:41.31MartynI was dispairing that the SL-C3100 would be well supported.
01:41.50offroadgeekare you running the new hentges rom?
01:42.19Martynbut so far, so good.  The only things that are truly b0rked seem to be sound (skipping/popping) and some minor issues during boot.. I had to edit the initscripts
01:42.46MartynHonestly?  I don't know -whose- rom I'm running now
01:42.57MartynIt's definately 3.5.3 OZ, with a kernel someone compiled
01:42.57offroadgeekhehe
01:43.22offroadgeekohh. its getting cold out... time to move inside
01:45.00MartynThis is definately looking good.  Although when the final 3.5.4 release is done, someone will have to make sure to put 640x480 backgrounds on the Borzoi hardware

01:47.26jd86i'm using multisync to sync the stuff between desktop and Z. But it apears to only go one way, when it syncs evolution2 gets the stuff from zaurus but not the other way around.. is there something other than multisync that you'd suggest?
01:50.29jd86openzaurus doesn't care to reboot. it yells at me.
01:50.52MartynWheee! I have the X-ray tux on the desktop now :}
01:50.52MartynNeat
01:50.57jd86:)
02:00.20offroadgeekI've heard of intellisync working with oz, but haven't tried it myself
02:04.06jd86yea, Z definatly locked up this time :(.
02:04.54MartynOops
02:04.55MartynHeh
02:05.01MartynWell, then the little black button is for _you_
02:05.06MartynBad lockup, no juju
02:05.10jd86?
02:05.26Martyn(Little black button, behind the battery door, to reset)
02:05.55MartynOkay, I need to poke around and find settings so that I can double the size of the icons, taskbar, etc
02:05.58jd86i cant just flip it to replace battery and then back, and crank her bac up
02:06.07MartynBecause right now, they are almost too smaall.
02:06.08MartynWhy not?
02:06.55Martynwell mmc card
02:08.13offroadgeekthere must be settings for the icons and taskbar size, cause mine are quite large... enough that I'd like to see them smaller
02:09.03offroadgeekwell 'quite large' is relative... to the z of course
02:09.44MartynYep
02:10.07MartynIn this case, I'm sitting on 640x480 .. so the average icon in the taskbar is about the size of the stylus pointer's end
02:10.14Martynand my hand isn't THAT steady
02:10.24Martyn(Lets just say I'll never be a neurosurgeon)
02:10.26offroadgeeki just dont know where/how to change it
02:10.41gertjanMartyn: Did you remember to rm -rf /home/root && mkdir /home/root before flashing?
02:10.54MartynYes
02:11.21MartynSo that it would replace the files...
02:11.46gertjanMartyn: hmm, I seem to recall that when I forgot to do so I had the teeny itsy desktop too on the 860
02:12.26Martynhmm
02:12.34MartynI wonder which file in there is responsible?
02:12.40jd86has anyone had any success with gutenbrowser?
02:12.41MartynI can do it again, and reflash easily enough.,
02:13.08jd86ipkg: Cannot create symlink from ./opt/QtPalmtop/bin/gutenbrowser to '/opt/QtPalmtop/bin/quicklauncher': Operation not permitted                      << whats up with that?
02:13.29Martynsymlink already exists, so it's complaining
02:15.53MartynWhat button generates <esc> in the console terminal?
02:16.07Martyn(x)?
02:26.20offroadgeekyeah... 'x'/cancel

14:41.58alan|homejd86: still here ?
14:50.56alan|homejd86: /media/cf/packages/opt/QtPalmtop/bin is for sharp based rom. if you use openzaurus, the directory structure is different. That is also the reason (one of them...) why sharp progs won't work on OZ.
14:52.14jd86well why would OZ create them? i deleted /media/cf/packages and reinstalled what i wanted and it reapeared
14:54.13alan|homejd86: what program do you try to install ?
14:54.28alan|homeand where did you get it ?
14:54.32jd86well i just got rid of opie, and started using gpe so i'll see if there's any problems now
14:54.48jd86i think it had to do with files lingering around from prevous flashes.. i'm new to this still. and it was a file from opie's feed
14:54.53jd86well OZ's
14:55.13alan|homeok.
14:58.32jd86gpe seems to work well so far
14:59.16jd86i know this sounds wierd but maybe, is it possible to use the irda port on the Z to print to a printer with an irda port?
15:01.12jd86well this is going to make me very irritated, the scroll bar on the package manager flys down when you use the down arrow

17:17.58jakuhow do you upgrade with the Z 5500?
17:21.26radugait depends.
17:21.30radugawhat do you want to upgrade?
17:21.43radugayou can update the operating system
17:21.46radugayou can install new software
17:21.56radugayou can add CF or SD memory devices
17:22.06radugaor other CF devices (network, etc)
17:22.23radugaits not trivial to upgrade system ram or flash, or CPU though
17:22.36radugait's decidedly not trivial to upgrade the display
17:24.06jakuraduga: I just installed 3.5.3 and I want to upgrade.. I have a CF and a SD, if I try to upgrade.. it says that there isn' space.. so I would like to use the SD or the CF to do that
