00:26.24simcop2387-vncis there a way to make ny zaurus beep in gpe like it did in opie?
00:27.28andrewyno, don't think gpe has support for that
00:27.54shadowsNAbyss: you around buddy?
00:43.00simcop2387-vncandrewy, any idea how opie does it?  if not i'll check out the source to make a program to do it on the cli
00:43.58andrewyafaik the sound is made by a buzzer or something (not an actual speaker) and it uses that
00:46.43simcop2387-vncthats what i figured guess i'll have to dig around oin the source
01:33.05andrewywhen I use the sharp-compat-libs, no text shows up in the program.. anywhere there would be text normally is blank. does anyone know how to fix that?
02:00.12shadowsi am not even sure what the problem is
02:01.33andrewyi'm running kismet-qt with runcompat, but anywhere it would normally have text is blank
02:02.14andrewyfor example when I start it a dialog box comes up, but where the writing should be is completely blank

07:31.27Mark___with a nice, pretty icon for me to click
08:19.20kendhomemy zaurus no longer boots :(
08:19.31kendhomei get the "Open Zaurus" logo and penguin monster
08:19.35kendhomei think a flashing cursor...
08:19.38kendhomeand then it turns itself off :(
08:19.47kendhomeCoreDump|home: you around? :)
08:19.56kendhomelast thing i did was it was play MP3s with XMMS when i went to bed
08:20.13kendhomei woke up and it was off... i looked at it, hit Cancel/On/Off, it started to power up... then died
08:20.22kendhomethat's the last thing i saw it doing :(
08:20.56DataBeaverSounds like a dead battery for me...  But I suppose you had it on AC power?
08:22.49kendhomeyes :)
08:24.23kendhomei kinda give up
08:24.32kendhomei was up between 3am and 7am sat trying to get OZ to work
08:24.43DataBeaverI got no offhand ideas then...
08:24.44kendhomethen tried CoreDump's CardFS variation
08:25.12kendhomemy SD might be massively dead
08:25.25kendhomeit was only reporting like 57MB instead of 64
08:25.43DataBeaverWith a filesystem on it?
08:25.49DataBeaverAnd exactly what reported 57MB?
08:26.28prhDataBeaver: right I'm about to flash - but what/how should I backup my old rom/md ?
08:27.39kendhomeoh, df
08:27.44DataBeaverDon't know about the rom...  I used tar and netcat for the md
08:27.50DataBeaverkendhome: That's pretty normal then
08:27.51prhDataBeaver: cool
08:27.52kendhomeafter mkfs.ext2'ing it to prepare it for CardFS
08:28.16DataBeaverext2 reserves 5% to root by default
08:28.16kendhomethe SD is from back when i had my 5500, so it's about 4yo now ;)
08:28.22prhkendhome: 57 sounds about right then
08:28.27kendhomeoh, interesting
08:28.29DataBeaverAnd those show up as used in df
08:28.42kendhomewell, i believe it showed 0 was used
08:28.47DataBeaverAdditionally, the inode tables and such take some space
08:28.49prhkendhome: could try running badblocks on the sd card (shove it in a pc)
08:28.59kendhomei don't have a SD reader for my PC :^/  just CF
08:29.11DataBeaverOkay, correction, they don't show up as used nor free
08:29.13prhget an sd-cf adaptor then :O)
08:29.21kendhomeheheheheh
08:29.27kendhomeDataBeaver: hrm
08:29.51DataBeaverrootfs from my main desktop:
08:29.52DataBeaver/dev/hda1                 1012       147       814  16% /
08:30.12DataBeaver814+147=961
08:30.20DataBeaverThat doesn't quite add up to 1012
08:30.21kendhomeheh, mine is:  /dev/hda2             16216016  15265752    126532 100% /
08:30.49kendhomei think, though, my SD was reporting 57MB total
08:30.58kendhomeit was late at night, in a tiny-font konsole with bad wrapping
08:31.02kendhomeso i could be totally misinformed ;)
08:31.12kendhomei think i'll just end up reverting to the latest Sharp ROM for now
08:31.14DataBeaverheh
08:31.25kendhomei tried the Qtopia ROM (which i hadn't heard of until sat night, and was what prompted me to start flashing things)
08:31.30kendhomeit was _hella_ unstable
08:31.43kendhomeQtopia stuff would crash and console text would start overwriting the GUI
08:32.02kendhomeanyway, i should get to bed :)
08:32.07kendhomerough week, sleep-wise, so far ;)
08:32.10kendhomedamned zaurus ;)
08:32.17DataBeaverChecking the workability of the SD would probably be a good idea...  Although I don't see how an error would cause the device to shut off.
08:32.39kendhomeyeah, no idea what's causing it to shut off.. tried Reset and reboot, but to no avail
08:32.50prhdoes it boot without the sd card?
08:32.58kendhomehave not tried reflash yet... it takes a long time, and then if I do a cardFS install, it takes longer
08:33.08kendhomeactually, good point... no, i don't think it booted w/o SD either
08:33.16kendhomenever showed ANY text... just the Open Zaurus logo at the top, and a cursor
08:33.23kendhomethen: power off :(
08:34.31kendhomeanyway, i'll figure it out some time this week. :) thx tho!
08:34.45kendhomeand maybe one day i'll get a 5600
08:34.57prhwhen you do poweron with OK - there are four options - 4 is the flash menu - what are the others?
08:34.59DataBeaverHm, it was a few minutes for me...  Although with SL-C3100 and 2.6 only the kernel goes to flash.
08:35.30DataBeaverWell, bus leaving in 7 mins, gotta go.

08:36.03kendhomenot even the "press any key for altboot"
08:36.07kendhomeit just powers down :(
08:38.58prhsounds like altboot could be corrupt

08:39.43kendhomelike, 24hr?
08:39.50kendhome(let it drain the internal?)
08:40.09kendhomeor just flip the switch, remove the batt, unplug AC
08:40.19kendhomethen put it all back together and flip the switch back to Normal...?
08:41.18kendhomeyikes, same thing :(
08:41.36kendhomeheh, the cursor blinks, too

14:32.40prhspecifically:
14:32.51prhFor 2.6 kernels we ignore the flash entirely and install onto the microdrive directly. The first partition (/dev/hda1) on the microdrive becomes the root partition, /dev/hda2 is /home and /dev/hda3 becomes /media/hdd. Unfortunately the standard microdrives partitioning wont work as the root partition is too small. You need to resize this using the instructions below before attempting to flash a 2.6 kernel. The files required for reflashing are:

14:33.02prhhdimage1.tgz
