03:25.26rohDocScrutinizer05: hm. nothing matches... well.. back to the seller it goes
03:25.58xiangfuDocScrutinizer05: Hi, is the case ok for you? what should we do on the cases?
03:32.13DocScrutinizer05xiangfu: sorry, still stuck at customs
03:33.11DocScrutinizer05so I can't say anything more than a few weeks ago
03:33.43xiangfuDocScrutinizer05: ok.
03:33.48xiangfuis there anything I can help?
03:34.05DocScrutinizer05well, probably not
03:34.26xiangfuok.
03:34.33xiangfulet me know anything I can help.
03:34.39DocScrutinizer05there been one tiny typo in invoice but that doesn't explain how customs cocks up
03:35.33DocScrutinizer05I sent them a lengthy explanation of what's the content and where to look on ebay for faintly similar objects and their value
03:36.04DocScrutinizer05thios been a few days ago, I hope it will finally go free now
03:37.54DocScrutinizer05xiangfu: I'll ping you as soon as I know any news
03:38.26xiangfuOkey
03:38.59DocScrutinizer05maybe eventually I'll have to tell customs to contact you and tell them that you dug out those cases from your garbage bin
03:40.18DocScrutinizer05but I doubt they would even bother to contact you, after all you can tell then no more than you already did in invoice. Or anything you like
03:41.11DocScrutinizer05when they don't trust ebay, they will probably need to have some expert check the parcel's content
03:41.17DocScrutinizer05jerks
03:42.17DocScrutinizer05too many parcels from china, all declared as "gift" or otherwise fraudulent
03:42.37DocScrutinizer05german customs gets pissed since years
03:46.48xiangfuyes.
03:48.13DocScrutinizer05next time we add more google searchterms to the content declaration
03:49.38DocScrutinizer05are the cases re-assembled or in separate parts?
03:50.14DocScrutinizer05IOW can customs dude see that there's missing the PCB?
03:50.54DocScrutinizer05well, he probably could anyway when sliding open, there's abig hole where kbd should be ;-D
03:55.12xiangfuin separate parts.
03:55.41xiangfubut I put them together. for don't break when shipping.
03:58.04DocScrutinizer05thanks!

16:54.37arossdotme#got a 2.5 inch 12v +/- composite lcd but it's got a darn clf backlight. so it's a noise monster and needs 300ma ! when my 4.3 inch one with led backlight uses 100ma @12. i want to run it rom a little lithium batt. i see the clf is held sandwiched on top via some screw, could i replace it easily with a led one if so any quick suggestions?
16:55.03arossdotme@12v
16:56.24arossdotmethis screen has a built in lift/right flip which means i can use it for taking selfys with my action camera
16:56.45arossdotmewhich no other screen has
16:56.57arossdotmeor at lest small screen

18:18.06DocScrutinizer052.5" CFL :-o
18:18.17DocScrutinizer05dang that thing must be old
18:18.41DocScrutinizer05"White LEDs? You're kidding!" ;-P
18:18.58*** join/#qi-hardware jekhor__ (~jek@port-80-adslby-pool36.infonet.by)
18:19.58DocScrutinizer05generally replacing backlight by another technology or design is *very* difficult
18:20.42DocScrutinizer05ideally check out where the CFL sits and replace the CFL by a LED strip, with no more than 5mm pitch between LEDs
18:21.30DocScrutinizer05then you 'just' need to figure which direction the LEDs have to face to - mind you a CFL is omnidirectional by design
18:21.42*** join/#qi-hardware pcercuei (~pcercuei@2a02:810d:1b40:1118::a)
18:22.25DocScrutinizer05odds are your efficiency of new design is so poor that you need even _more_ power for the LEDs than for the CFL
18:22.56DocScrutinizer05what do you mean by "noise monster"?
18:23.19DocScrutinizer05EMI? or audio?
18:23.59DocScrutinizer05if you meant audio, then there#s sth defect in the converter, which might allso account for the high power consumption
18:25.04*** join/#qi-hardware wej (~j@2001:1af8:4010:a08c:1::6e)
18:25.31DocScrutinizer05prolly the whole thing is sooooo oooold that the elcos fell dry meanwhile. Nothing unusual, and would well cause audible noise and poor efficiency
18:27.02DocScrutinizer05also cheap crappy inductors/transformers/chokes can cause quite some audible noise and same time reduce efficiency
18:27.35DocScrutinizer05impact on efficiency isn't _that_ much though in this case
18:27.55DocScrutinizer05unless the thing gets saturated
18:28.11DocScrutinizer05(= operating at too high current)
18:28.37DocScrutinizer05then efficiency drops through the ground
18:29.35DocScrutinizer05like: 200 of the 300mA would simply heat up the choke then
18:31.21DocScrutinizer05decent SPSU have a controller that avoids such pathological states of operation. Simple cheap ones you can bet will suffer from exactly that on overload of output
18:37.44DocScrutinizer05wpwrak: LOL
18:40.14DocScrutinizer05waits until Braun offers a beard shaver that works automatically, after asking with friendly voice "do you want a shave now, Sir?" (the variant with s/Sir/Madam/ will prolly not make it to market)

18:42.17DocScrutinizer05still waits for toilet paper with a e-ink watch in every sheet
18:42.54arossdotmeD ocScrutinizer umm i there i heard a little bit of noise but whats bad is it has a built in speaker but the noise the audio circuit picks up is awful. it's louder then the audio output from my camera
18:43.36arossdotmei was suprised to see it uses clf
18:43.46DocScrutinizer05pph, that clearly indicated eelctrolytic capacitors gone south, no?
18:43.53DocScrutinizer05ooh*
18:44.00arossdotmeguess thats why it has analog brightness, sat

18:48.38arossdotmebtw know of such a thing as a composite limage flip? that mirror flips the image?
18:49.19arossdotmeso i can use the average little lcd as a selfy external monitor
18:49.52arossdotmeso you unput rac video and you get a rac composite output
18:49.57arossdotmeunput=input
18:50.42arossdotmei guess i just have to use a bigger batt pack and lithim batt stetup conterver
18:51.03arossdotmeso much for a small light what screen for my tiny action cam
18:51.27arossdotmewhat =weight
18:53.17arossdotmemore of the smae lcd but for sale http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?shipCountry=uk&shipFromCountry=&shipCompanies=&SearchText=2.5&exception=&minPrice=&maxPrice=&minQuantity=&maxQuantity=&isFreeShip=n&isFavorite=n&isRtl=n&isOnSale=n&isBigSale=n&similar_style=n&similar_style_id=&isAtmOnline=n&CatId=200003807
