01:01.38PiWizardHey, alright I have web services set up an ARS machine (Remedy) and then I used WSDL2Java to create the java files to connect to the server, put in my test client, authenatication files and when I send my soap envelope it is perfect. When it returns I -think- Tomcat 5.5 adds a namespace (ns1) infront of my return values like <ns1:OpCreate><ns1:Request_ID>...</ns1:Request_ID></ns1:OpCreate> but my client won't pick th

18:39.11jbalint_hey guys
18:44.33wltjranyone here familiar with compiling Tomcat 5.5, or aware of if Tomcat 5.5 uses struts, or is packaged with it?
18:44.51wltjrI can't seem to find struts jars or etc in binary tomcat's, but it seemed to be a dep in the build.xml
18:47.39kesVI think struts is only used in the admin application that is distributed separately.
19:02.07wltjryes, so required for compiling
19:03.11wltjrkesV: FYI, I took over maintaining the Tomcat ebuild on Gentoo, where in we compile Tomcat from source, initial the goal is to be equivalent to the official Tomcat binary, and if possible make aspects of it optional, for a more custom Tomcat binary
19:03.37jbalint_what should be optional?
19:04.04wltjrkesV: in the past stuts dependency has been questioned and again, I am pretty 100% stuts is require since at least this time, compiling the admin app is not optional
19:04.57wltjrjbalint_: well possible Tomcat's core optional libraries, to my understanding they are not required, but do activate functionality within tomcat, or if they are not present it won't build certain aspects, like possibly the admin app
19:06.09jbalint_Yeah, and certain valves and such. I don't see any benefit in that though.
19:08.37*** join/#tomcat bdudney (n=bdudney@168.103.85.139)
19:10.04wltjrjbalint_: stream lined and picky-ness, but that it way outside the scope of my current goals
19:10.21wltjrI just want a compiled from source equivalent, not missing any pieces or etc
19:10.35wltjrhowever the examples stuff, and web based docs are optional to be installed, but they are compiled and etc
19:10.53wltjrjbalint_: just so non-newb don't have to deal with that crap in their way :)
19:11.21jbalint_Ok. :)
19:11.47wltjrjbalint_:  by any chance do you know anything about puretls and tomcat?
19:12.18jbalint_Nope.
19:12.22jbalint_What do you need to know?
19:12.53wltjrjust couldn't find any docs on it, and seemed to be like the only optional thing in tomcat I could find
19:13.36wltjrbut that binary stuff did not use it, and was possible testing stuff or etc for future, which is why I would like to implement it for feedback purposes, debugging and etc to further development, if the goal is to get away from Sun's JSSE
19:13.42jbalint_Have you looked at the puretls docs? Alot of that stuff is pluggable at the jvm-level.
19:14.15wltjrjbalint_: not really, it' snot something I personally care about, just came across it, and on gentoo we like to do things like Burger King :)
19:14.35wltjrjbalint_: I will research it again, just could not find much on puretls and tomcat
19:14.49wltjrmight have to hit up jasonb about that when he returns from vacation
19:15.48jbalint_Ok. If you need some help, let me know, and I can help you dig into it and figure out what the situation is.
19:19.52wltjrcool appreciate it
19:20.38wltjrso far so good, had one freak case where someone with a custom web app using log4j would crash tomcat compiled from source, but not the official binary, but it was only one person, and I have never been able to fully diagnose, but did research and discuss in depth with jasonb
19:21.22wltjralso if any Gentoo users show up here, with non-general Tomcat related issues, please send them to #gentoo-java, thank you
