02:23.20MagdinHi everyone
02:23.40MagdinI'm using Server version: Apache Tomcat/5.5
02:23.41MagdinServer built:   Jan 16 2007 12:52:43
02:23.41MagdinServer number:  5.5.20.0

02:23.45MagdinJVM Vendor:     Sun Microsystems Inc.
02:25.10MagdinI got question about ldap realm, as soon as I add ldap auth into server.xml I'm not able to access manager page, i.e memoryrealm doesn't work anymore. Does it mean that i can use only one realm at one time?
02:27.00MagdinLet me know if you need LDAP realm tag to be posted. Thank you.

04:57.44pfnMagdin, well, you can't define two realms in a given scope
04:58.01pfnMagdin, that is, if you want to enable memoryrealm for the manager app, you need to define it in the manager app's context
04:58.24pfnif you want to enable ldap realm for only your particular app, why don't you add the realm entry within that context's tags
05:12.03Magdinwell i was thinking to keep my admin profile at memoryrealm and have my application users at LDAP.
05:13.09Magdini didn't know that you can define realm inside the context. Thanks a lot for advise.

16:05.23largosI need some pointers on shutting tomcat down (tomcata 5.5.<I'm not sure how to findout>, Gentoo w/ 2.6.14, java 1.5.0)
16:05.56largosI've issued the os's /etc/init.d/tomcat55 stop, but there are still a lot of processes running, and using the port (8080)
16:06.26largosThe only service tomcat makes use of (that I'm aware of) is postgresql, which I've also shut down
16:07.32largosThe processes that seem to be using 8080 were started like this: /opt/jdk1.5.0_11/bin/java -Djava.util.logging.manager=org.apache.juli.ClassLoaderLogManager -Djava.util.logging.config.file=/opt/tomcat_5.5/conf/logging.properties -Djava.endorsed.dirs=/opt/tomcat_5.5/common/endorsed -classpath :/opt/tomcat_5.5/bin/bootstrap.jar (from ps -ef, if that helps)

Now on fedora, a new folder called 'rezoomex3810' in user's home directory gets created and tomcat serves from there. There is also one more folder in webapps having same name as default war. plz edxplain me this behaviour on fedora linux.

19:03.12ampexkiubuntu: did you install tomcat using a fedora package?
19:03.35ampexkiubuntu: if so, I'm assuming that it's been modified by the package maintainers to produce this behavior
19:03.43kiubuntuampex: no i used gz from apache
19:04.51ampexhmmm, strange
19:05.17kiubuntuactually it created separate directory in user's home other than a foler with same name as that of war file and no such behaviour is shown on my mac os x
19:06.24ampexdo you have a "deploy.home" specified in your configuration file?
19:06.43ampexmaybe you need a tomcat_home environment variable?
19:07.58kiubuntuno . and tomcat_home... i thought there is no need to set it up . actuallly it serves all the pages pretty well from that newly created folder in usr home direcotry on fedora. but it does not happen on mac

23:06.48largoswell, almost.  If I use a redirect rule, it works, but the url isn't as clean as I'd like

23:56.48largoshuh, ok
23:57.07largosI tried PT and it seemed to behave just like P
23:57.31largosI think the problem with P is that it only redirects the first request (for the root)
23:57.56largosso I tried RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ /myServlet/$1 [P]
23:58.14largosbut that recurses for some reason
