01:42.00mlhjasonb: yes.  my point is that the README does not say that.  It should
01:45.30jasonbmlh: Yes, I agree.
01:45.41mlhko, thanks.
01:46.37mlhI do know that some app servers have issues with 6, so it's not an bad inference that tomcat might have the same issue (from reading the README)
02:02.36jasonbmlh: Well, Tomcat 6's source code can't be built with Java 1.6 -- it requires 1.5.  Other than that, Tomcat 6 is fully Java 1.6 friendly.
02:08.17karstensragemeaning you can run it it with 1.6

05:04.26thirdwheelhey all, Tomcat 5.5.28, java 1.6.0 on Windows XP Pro, I've got a project that implements its own WebdavServlet, it carried libraries with it that were horribly outdated (I mean they dated back to Tomcat 4.0.1) so i sought to replace them with more recent versions...
05:05.27thirdwheelnow it won't run or compile because the servlet for the NamingContextEnumeration doesn't take a vector any more, but if I tell it to use an iterator, it says that the constructor that takes the iterator doesn't exist... the code is something like "new NamingContextEnumeration(myVector.iterator());" - any ideas?

22:06.52stephen495Hi, I am using Tomcat 6.0.18 (we cannot upgrade to.20 just yet), Java 1.6.0_18 on a Linux 2.6.18 box, which is linked up with an Apache 2.2 installation on another Linux 2.6.18 box using mod_jk 1.2.28
22:07.39dvinchistephen495, ?
22:07.50dvinchiyour question is ....
22:07.52dvinchi?
22:08.00stephen495I am having problems with SSL. Apache serves up SSL fine, and Tomcat seems to serve up normal files fine, but when it comes to transmitting SSL files (marked CONFIDENTIAL in web.xml), my browser's protocol changes to https and :8443 without loading anything
22:08.07stephen495sorry i was still tying it.
22:08.10stephen495typing
22:08.54stephen495I have seen references to an Apache directive called JkExtractSSL, but only in much earlier versions of Tomcat, and I am not sure if that will fix it
22:09.23stephen495I don't know if the problem is that the SSL data isn't getting passed to Tomcat, or if the problem is that Tomcat is receiving it but doesnt know what to do with it.
22:10.09jasonbstephen495: If you have to use httpd, why don't you let HTTPD handle HTTPS and the realms?
22:12.12stephen495Oh so perhaps in web.xml, stop marking things as confidential, and just have Apache convert it to SSL when it forwards it along?
22:17.36jasonbYes.
22:17.55jasonbIn that configuration, why should Tomcat care about whether httpd is doing HTTPS or not?
22:18.05jasonb(for any given request)
22:18.36stephen495I suppose the only reason would be for transport-layer security between the 2 servers
22:20.30stephen495since the information is still transmitted over the internet
22:22.40stephen495is there a way of still providing that since they are on 2 different servers?
