15:45.38amine_Hello , we have developped an application , now it is on production ... on tomcat, but it crashes every 2 days or so telling there an outofmemory: java heap space....increased Xmx several times, but keeps crashing, (maybe a memory leak?)  any ideas how to debug it please?
15:45.43amine_Thanks
16:06.35randrewjamine_: test your app using tools to monitor memory and generate requests
16:11.18amine_Thanks randrewj , i will try jconsole, .. but it seems to be difficult to detect which module or webpage is causing this

17:00.26kaushalThis channel seems to be very quiet :/
17:01.01karstensragepoints to the topic
17:01.28kaushalkarstensrage, i have read the topic already :)
17:01.57karstensrageyou are using a third party tool to do something and its not doing what you want?
17:02.05kaushalyeah
17:02.09rigeld2kaushal: specifically the "SLOW MOTION CHANNEL (we all have jobs & kids)" part
17:02.12karstensragei see
17:02.24karstensrageperhaps you could find a forum for the third party tool?
17:02.31kaushalrigeld2, sure
17:03.16kaushalI did commented on the lambdaprobe forum too. They suggested to download the file and do a search on it
17:03.34kaushalthats not an efficient way to do it
17:04.15kaushalkarstensrage, shall i point you to the answer for my query ?
17:04.32karstensragesure
17:05.03kaushalhttp://www.lambdaprobe.org/forum2/thread.jspa?threadID=557&tstart=0
17:05.07karstensrageso the third party tool WILL do it, it just needs access to the file and you dont want to give it access to the file?
17:05.51kaushalI want to give access to the file to the end user
17:06.03kaushalbut with a search option
17:06.25karstensrageanother guy was asking if you could write catalina.out to another file, would that help?
17:06.33kaushalnope
17:06.35kaushalor example my search is in the format of grep "somestring"
17:06.35kaushalcatalina.out | cut -d "," -f 6,7,8 | grep -i "91987272727" I can do it
17:06.35kaushalvery easily when i am connected to the tomcat server but for the end
17:06.35kaushaluser without ssh access, it wont be possible.
17:06.41karstensrageok well youre stuck
17:06.54karstensrageyou wont do what it requires I dont really understand what you expect
17:07.16karstensrageits like saying you are trying to use a hammer to nail a nail in but no one is allowed to touch the hammer
17:07.31kaushalkarstensrage, shall i explain it ?
17:07.40karstensrageand asking tomcat if they have telekenesis
17:07.45karstensragesure

17:08.33kaushalbasically i am the sysadmin of tomcat applicaton server, I have end users (Tech Support Guys) to look into the catalina.out file for some issues
17:09.33kaushalsince i do not want to give ssh access to the end user, is there a viable solution to this issue ?
17:09.53kaushalfor example my search is in the format of grep "somestring"
17:09.53kaushalcatalina.out | cut -d "," -f 6,7,8 | grep -i "91987272727" I can do it

17:17.33karstensragehave some script on the tomcat server push the catalina.out to other servers?
17:17.33kaushalkarstensrage, you around ?
17:17.56karstensragethis has NOTHING to do with tomcat
17:18.10kaushalkarstensrage, yes i know it already
17:18.43kaushaljust curious to know whether anyone here has any better solution for my problem :)
17:20.41karstensragewell thats my suggestion and i dont really feel like putting more effort into it
