06:45.11jhoplustoo many pres. getting confused
07:06.55rwhitbydtzWill: I'm hoping to somehow merge build.git and cross-compile.git
07:07.23rwhitbydtzWill: first thing is to work out how to make build.git be able to build something somewhere other than two levels below the root
07:07.29rwhitbydtzWill: any ideas on that?
07:18.41dtzWillrwhitby: which issues do you see? discovery of the packages? the makefiles/dependent scripts referring handling their depth in the structure in a consistent manner?
07:18.49dtzWillrwhitby: i think we can figure it out :):)
07:20.30rwhitbydtzWill: makefiles referencing support .mk fragments and common things mainly
07:21.35dtzWillrwhitby: i'd say have each makefile, on close to the first line, define "LEVEL=../../" or so, and then everything else bases off $(LEVEL) etc
07:21.50rwhitbydtzWill: that was my first thought too
07:22.19dtzWillrwhitby: i totally stole that idea from other build systems I've used (but not designed) :)
07:22.23rwhitbythen the next step is making the toolchain directories identical
07:22.36dtzWillrwhitby: kk any drawbacks you see with that? other than having to define it? (doesn't seem like that's a big deal)
07:22.48rwhitbythen any common scripts in support/*.mk being identical
07:22.53dtzWillrwhitby: what about toolchain directories?
07:23.00dtzWillrwhitby: oh you mean merging build/cross-compile, yes
07:23.42dtzWillrwhitby: hmmmm. yeah that'll take some serious work. offhand, do we care which merges into which? :) (where do we make this new branch? :D)
07:27.44rwhitbydtzWill: the other things is that the autobuilder has to be fairly robust so that a broken widk package does not stop preware feeds updating
07:30.25dtzWillrwhitby: good point. might not be the best question, but is ...managing commit rights an issue (in a similar vein)?
07:31.01rwhitbydtzWill: yes

08:05.30rwhitbyInstant load, instant interaction, multiple parallel installs, delta synching updates with a server.
08:05.53rwhitbyscaleable to 100's of thousands of apps.
08:08.08MercuryHow do you plan on getting the parallel installs to work out?
08:11.03rwhitbyFool Palm's application install service into thinking the homebrew is approved for installation, and use the same routines that the app catalog client uses.
08:11.44rwhitbywe currently use that method for the auto-installation of Preware by Meta-Doctor on first boot
08:12.43hape_moin

17:29.18doohanIs there somewhere that I'm likely to see error logs of why things aren't starting?
17:29.25bpadalinoyeah - servers are down ..
17:29.29bpadalinocrashed :(
17:29.34doohanNah, it's been that way for months :)
17:29.45bpadalinowhoops

17:39.06darronbsupposedly contact info and palm-store-downloads are restored.  homebrew usually needs to be reinstalled (although preware might trick it's way back on ?)
17:40.07darronbactually, i could have sworn that when I got my AT&T phone to replace a verizon one I used to have that the solitare game went right back to the game I was on on the old phone...  could be going crazy, but I thought that's what happened
