IRC log for #webos-internals on 20120219

00:04.21PuffTheMagicko1, the paragraph sounds good but the real issue is where to put it it, there needs to be a intro scene which I have not made yet
00:04.37PuffTheMagiccant add that too the setup page cause it would fill up 2 pages of screens on a phone
00:05.00PuffTheMagicactually.... maybe I can get oil to help make the "help/information" overlay in enyo
00:05.05PuffTheMagicand that would solve that problem

01:01.02rwhitbyI believe he still intends to develop for webOS as well, just not sure of what his priorities are now.
01:01.37CerealklrRight. Fair enough. Well, I guess I'll give gemini another shot. At least I have XTerm again, so I won't really be losing functionality.
01:01.38rwhitbyOr maybe he's just busy with exams or something.  Dunno - you'd have to ask him.
01:04.42jcsullinsbhuey: do you have any suggestions for using kgdb w/ kernel?
01:04.57jcsullinsseems that it needs polling api on serial console (that does not exist)

16:51.38Nel_Hey everyone, I have a question about lighttpd. I installed it on my Pre+ (2.1), it works on localhost, but I can't access it from any other device on the same network. The strange thing is that no iptables rules appear when I list them, and nothing seems to change when I try to add one by myself. Am I just dumb or there is a problem with iptables?

17:02.48cryptkNel_, chances are the lighttpd configuration has it bound to localhost or 127.0.0.1 (same thing really) for security reasons
17:02.57cryptkand it would be up to you to change it to have it be "public"
17:03.14cryptkjust a guess, I have never looked at the lighttpd package
17:06.29Nel_Hmm, I didn't see anything like that in lighttpd.conf
17:07.47Nel_But I still think the problem is related to iptables, because there are rules in the upstart script, but nothing related in iptables -L
17:22.26ko1Nel_, iptables-save
17:22.39ko1and yes, lighttpd for some reasone doesnt pierce the firewall
17:22.56ko1and fml, n900 rocks
17:24.56ko1Nel_, /usr/sbin/iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT
17:32.47Nel_ko1: Actually the stuff I tried does appear in iptables-save, didn't think of that. And that was what I was using, except I had -i eth0, but it doesn't work either way :/
17:33.35Nel_Am I supposed to save the rules somewhere though?

17:42.10ko1maybe you made some mess
17:43.34Nel_lol, I don't think so, I always revert stuff I modified
17:44.34Nel_It's pretty much a clean install anyway, I doctored today
17:44.45ko1i mean with the iptables
17:46.20Nel_Basically what I did before coming here is: /usr/sbin/iptables -I INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp --dport  80 -j ACCEPT
17:46.37Nel_I tried port 80 and 8080 (just in case), and with/out the -i eth0
17:46.54Nel_And then I removed everything with iptables -D and the same rules.
17:47.15ko1i see
17:47.16Nel_So I don't think I broke anything.
17:47.30ko1well, is the port closed?
17:47.54ko1can you ping it at all?

18:03.47Nel_And I can ping other machines on the network, so ping is not broken :D
