02:02.16infobotQuestions in the channel should be specific, informative, complete, concise, and on-topic.  Don't ask if you can ask a question first.  Don't ask if a person is there; just ask what you intended to ask them.  Better questions more frequently yield better answers.  We are all here voluntarily or against our will.

02:07.59DrakiorI see well I will just be simple anyway. I have a HP Touchpad. It is updated and then jailbroke. I have the novacom on my PC and its linked to my Touchpad. I try to install "preware" and for the past 5 hours it has been stuck on "Installing" on the WebOS Quick Install program. So any advice?
02:09.03scoutcamper*bzzt* jailbroke is not a webos term :p
02:09.30RagingMindthere's no jail to break ;)
02:10.00Drakior-_-; whatever I used the guide
02:10.11DrakiorI turned on the dev options
02:14.05RagingMindwhat OS on your computer? and have you tried rebooting both the computer and the touchpad?
02:14.43DrakiorI am using windows 7 and I have restarted both
02:18.32RagingMindwebos quick install is a useful but also closed source program. which makes it hard to determine what's happening
02:18.54RagingMindpersonally I like installing the palm SDK and using the palm-install tool to put preware on my devices

02:23.10RagingMindDrakior, http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Application:Preware#Installing_Preware
02:23.46RagingMindthe sdk is a bit of a big download cause it includes the image for the emulator *shrugs*
02:27.35Drakiorheh this is sad... I got it because the guide you showed me and the guide I was using failed to mention ONE thing... dont put in USB mode... thanks

05:21.29csplinterI'm working with a touchpad that's pin locked and I don't have the pin code. I saw the bypass pin lock patch in webos quick install. I thouht I might use that but then I realized I need to put the device in developer mode before I can apply the patch... Do I just have to wipe it?
05:23.44csplinterThing is I want to finish as soon as possible but the device is charging on .25 amp charger, and it's taking ages for the battery to reach 25% so i can wipe it.
05:37.43*** join/#webos-internals resistivecorpse2 (~resistive@unaffiliated/resistivecorpse)
05:43.42destinalcsplinter: wiping it with doctor would be the easiest way, booting an installer image with novacom boot mem , mounting the filesystems and touching the file that enables dev mode would be less destructive to data on it but is a bit more advanced
05:45.05destinalthere's a java program palm makes called devicetool.jar that will help you put it into dev mode easily but it hasn't been updated for touchpad and lacks the proper kernel for touchpad in the jar, so that would need to be fixed
05:45.29destinalin other words, any of these ways will take a bit of work and some technical skill
05:45.38destinalexcept just doctoring it :)
05:48.22destinalcsplinter: hmm actually I guess someone has updated devicetool.jar for touchpad for you
05:48.29csplinteryea, it charged enough to doctor it before any of that could be done
05:48.37csplinteri tracked down a 1amp charger
05:48.46destinalah cool  :)

15:24.50summatusmentistechnically, you're running a 12.04 beta right now. Officially, something may change between the version you're running, and the final release
15:45.51Lazar_Dobrescuwell I'm using 12.04 as my WIDK machine and built doom with no trouble shrug...
15:46.35summatusmentisI'm not suggesting it's trouble
15:47.00Lazar_DobrescuI think remoth was :)
15:47.01summatusmentisjust that it's arguably not "running 12.04", because 12.04 doesn't officially exist yet

15:53.56Lazar_Dobrescuanyhow, why Ubuntu is popular: it was basically debian with a nice interface and up-to-date-but-not-unstable packages, so a very good thing. So people switched to it. Now everyone is used to it, so getting people to switch out of it won't happen without a very compelling reason. Just like any software really.
